The next day when I woke up, I was already lying on Luke’s bed. I tried to remember what happened the previous night but all I can recall was that Luke and I were drinking on the living room floor. When I turned to my side, I saw Luke sprawled on the bed, his top half naked. Oh no! I lifted the duvet to see if I was still wearing any clothes and fortunately I still was. Oh thank God nothing happened. I gingerly got off the bed, trying not to wake him. Before I got to my feet, I took a glance at Luke who was lying on his stomach, his left arm over his head and the other on his side. He looked so relaxed and blissful. He was just utterly gorgeous. I took my eyes off him knowing that if he caught me staring he’d tease me about it. I scrambled to my feet and head towards the bathroom.
When I entered the kitchen, Adam was already cooking breakfast for us. He took a glance at me and gave me a smile.
“Good morning Ms. Grant. How are you feeling?”
“Awful. Good morning to you too.” Only then I realized that I had a massive headache clearly because I got totally wasted last night.
“Here ma’am. We bought some medicine for you and Mr. Graham. Oh and we bought groceries.”
“Thank you.” I gave Adam a shy smile and took out a glass and filled it with water. “What happened last night?” I turned towards Adam who I think chuckled a little.
“Both of you were so drunk ma’am. You were singing and dancing all over the place while Mr. Graham was hysterically laughing on the floor. You invited us to drink so we joined you, but after only a few minutes you two were already passed out on the floor. We carried you two into the bedroom.”
“How many bottles did we finish?”
“Two bottles of red wine, one bottle of white, one and a half bottle of whiskey. I think that’s about it ma’am. Oh and half a bottle of tequila.”
“Oh. I’m sorry you had to see that.”
“See what ma’am?”
“Us. Drunk.” I blushed a little.
“It’s okay ma’am. We all need to let off some steam at some point.”
After my conversation with Adam, who explicitly narrated to me what happened the previous night, Luke turned up in the living room.
“Good morning. I’ve never been that drunk since med school.” He was rubbing his temples; and instantly I knew that I wasn’t the only one with the massive headache.
“Good morning Sir. Here.” Adam handed the Advil to Luke who immediately swallowed it without drinking any water.
“Where’s Sydney?”
“Over there, sir.” Adam pointed towards the couch where I was lying.
“Syd?”
“Over here.” I raised my arm up to signal Luke that I was on the couch.
“Are you okay?” Luke chuckled a little after seeing me sprawled on the couch.
“No. I have a massive headache, I think I’m going to throw up anytime, and my vision is spinning.” I sat up so I was lazily sitting on the couch with my head held back.
“Did you drink the Advil?”
“Yes. Good. Move over.” He sat down beside me and he put his arm on my shoulder. I gingerly made myself comfortable in his arms. I hear rather than see his smile. I closed my eyes and just enjoy the silence.
After our breakfast, we decided to just lounge on the couch and watched some DVDs. I felt a little better after eating. I no longer had the feeling of throwing up, my massive headache was now more bearable and my vision was no longer spinning. Alex and Adam joined us and were now sitting on the floor. I realized how close we became to them. I adored them so much like they instantly became brothers to me.
