SOUL MARKS

Your soul mark appears when you hear your soulmate mention your full name for the first time. His/her name will be written a little above where your heart beats in a beautiful cursive writing. Obtaining a soul mark hurts as if you are being tattoed with a real needle.

Some soul marks are just a straight black line that signifies freedom to choose whoever you wants, not to be tied to anyone; or a curse of the universe of  you not having a match. Billions of souls and not one is dedicated just for you. To have both of your hearts beat in sync. Not just drawn at the palm of your hand but also a story written in the stars.

Soul mates should not deny each other or else the mark will aches as if it is burning through skin. Some soul marks are unrequited as their supposed to be soul mates are unfortunately destined to another. Unless soul mates locked into a "gaze of destiny", soul marks will forever be inked to their body.

D's POV

It's a perfect day for an almost perfect life of the perfect-looking Deanna Wong in her perfect outfit of plain rolled-up long sleeves white polo shirt and a matching dark gray slacks sipping her perfectly brewed black coffee, no sugar, no cream. She's reviewing her near perfect slide presentation plus the hand outs she already had prepared. She's about to impress her father to promote her as a Chief Operations Officer that she believes perfectly suited her. The perfect ambiance of the café and perfect weather outside tells her that it will be a perf—-

She instinctively rose to her feet as a tray of lattés fall over her table drowning her laptop and handouts in  a pool of caffeines. Some of it were splashed towards her staining her white polo and turning a spot of her dark gray slacks into black.

"Opps! I'm sorry Ma'am! Sorry! Sorry!"

A hand with a dry towel clumsily trailed the brown stains on her shirt and while it's a gesture with the purest intention, she can't stop herself to show the irritation in her voice.

"What's wrong with you?!!!" She almost winced at her choice of words but she's still a little bit shock to care.

She then furiously pulled a good amount of tissues and wiped her laptop. Good thing that it was water-resistant or else.

Feeling small on her feet, the waitress bowed her head in embarassment. "Sorry Ma'am. Hindi ko po sinasadya."

While the voice hums like a music into her ears, it did not help to ease the annoyance she's feeling. "What is your name?!!!"

"Je-Jema G-Galanza, Ma'am." Fear is evident in her eyes like she's about to be pound by a lion.

Or lioness.

An angry lioness.

"Oh Jema Galanza. You just ruined my day." she retorted sarcastically.

The waitress' face contorted like she's in pain and she assumed that her words seemed to cut through her like a sharp knife. It bloomed a pint of guilt and ease down the frustrations in her. Brown eyes turned a little bit glassy and it's beautiful even. If only they're not in a awkward situation, she could have stared in those windows of soul for long. She can't be blame for the waitress looks like an angel who obviously doesn't belong down here.

She caught a glimpse of what she guessed as the manager from her peripheral rushing towards them and immediately forced her facial expression to somewhat understanding to the misfortune. She's mad but not that mad to endanger the employment of the waitress.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry. Uhm, how can we—-"

"No, it's okay. I'm partly at fault here. I suddenly moved my legs kasi which caused this mess."
