CHAPTER 2
"Hey Damon!" I exclaimed enthusiastically as soon as I saw him already sitting in history class.
"Hey," he replied and smiled slightly at me.
I felt my eyes widen, shocked that he actually answered me.
Yes! He's finally warming up to me!
Or so I thought..
I sat next to him, "Can you tell me more about yourself?" I asked, hoping that I could actually know more about him.
He stayed silent as he blankly stared in front of him. I felt my hopes crushed, feeling sad. But it's fine, I guess I will have to take it really slow with him.
Baby steps
"Well, if you won't tell me about yourself, then I'll tell you about myself!" I pronounced. He didn't say anything and just continued staring blankly at the wall.
Having high hopes that he will actually listen, I started telling him a bit about myself. "My birthday is on the 1st of May, I don't have any siblings although I wish I did, I have just recently moved here with my mom for a fresh start, I love cookies and cream ice cream, but I hate it if there is a big chunk of cookie as I have very sensitive teeth-"
He lets out a low chuckle at this statement, causing me to pause my words and snap my head in his direction.
"You just laughed!" I announced excitedly, feeling slightly starstruck at the melodic sound.
He finally laughed!
"So what?" He asked me rudely and instantly stopped chuckling.
I rolled my eyes, "Still as rude as ever, I see,"
He just grunted so I decided to ignore his rude statement and continue on with what I was saying. "So before I was oh-so-rudely interrupted by your once-in-a-blue-moon laugh, I was actually gonna say that I had a puppy named grumpy which strongly reminded me of you,"
"Are you comparing me to a dog?" He exclaimed, faking offense. I smiled a goofy smile at him, loving his playful side that I had just discovered less than 5 minutes ago.
"You're 100% correct, mister leave-me-alone-but-I-secretly-wanna-be-your-friend," I teased, feeling slightly scared after I said it and hoping that I didn't push it too much. Thankfully, this didn't scare him off and he actually displayed a small smile at my choice of words.
"I still don't want to be your friend," He exclaimed. I would be hurt if I didn't detect the slight playful undertone in his voice.
"Aww, you know you love me," I quipped, resisting the urge to pinch his cheeks.
He just rolled his eyes but said nothing, averting his gaze to the front of the class where our history teacher is still absent. Silence dawned upon us but I wasn't ready to let his playful behavior go away yet.
"What color are your eyes?" I asked suddenly when it dawned on me that I didn't even know what color are his pair of orbs.
He tensed, covering it up smoothly with a shrug but didn't say anything.
"Awe, come on, it's just your eye color," I whined.
What is happening to me? I never whine, like ever.
"At least give me a chance to guess?" I persisted, adamant in knowing his eye color.
He sighed, "Fine, I'll give you one try but if you guessed it wrong then that's it."
