CHAPTER 7
"Hey mom," I greeted as I entered the house.
"Hi honey, how's the project going?" She asked warmly.
"It's going well. Damon is finally opening up to me." I exclaimed with bright eyes. Mom chuckled at my expression and went closer to me, hugging me. "Of course he would, I knew you could do it." She encouraged me.
I grinned at her and gave her a tight hug, inhaling her motherly scent.
"How's your walk home? Did anything happen?" She suddenly turned into overprotective mom mode. I smiled, my heart filling with warmth at her concern. "Don't worry mom, nothing happened." I reassured her.
Mom didn't really seem assured as she sighed, "Just be careful, Haley. You never know what's lurking in the dark," She stated from experience. I smiled at her sadly, "I know mom, and I will."
Hugging her one more time, I climbed up the stairs and into my room. Closing the door behind me, I finally retreated my shaking hands from hiding behind me. Placing my hands onto my chest, I forced myself not to let the memories haunt me and took deep breaths in order to calm myself down.
Once I felt like I'm strong enough to get back up without breaking down, I went to the bathroom and took a long, hot shower, relaxing all the pent up tension in my body. After that, I went on my bed, my phone in hand and did something that will surely distract me from thinking about that horrible day.
Haley: Hey best friend!
I know you all are probably like 'What are you doing? He can't read!'
Well, there's this app on his phone that will notify him when there is a text message and it will read the text message aloud along with who it is from. Also, Damon could easily just say his response, rather than typing it and the app will automatically send it to the directed person in text form.
I suck at explaining but hopefully you get the gist of it.
I stared at the screen, eager for his reply.
Damon: What?
Even though his response probably came out as a grunt, I still grinned.
Our first text message together!
Haley: Watcha doing?
Damon: Laying in bed
I smiled.
Haley: Me too!
I could practically feel Damon roll his eyes from the other side. I waited for his response, but when he said nothing else, I frowned.
Haley: Damon?
I waited but his response never came.
Where's he?
Haley: D
Haley: A
Haley: M
Haley: O
Haley: N
Haley: ?
Haley: ?
I was just about to send him another question mark when his respond came.
Damon: WHAT?!
Woah. He must be pissed if the computer decided to transcribe his voice in caps lock.
