Today was the first day of official training for Corp 4. The notes left on our door as we returned from our day at the abandoned station informed us. Inside our rooms, we each had a pair of black combat boots waiting for us, attached with a little note.

Hope you all had a great day out! Tomorrow we start official training, with designations included. You may notice the silver shoelace strings that are on your combat boots...it's a little Corp 4 tradition. See you tomorrow! -C

I hopped out of bed and changed into black skinny jeans, a white t-shirt and black bomber jacket, and put on my special combat boots from yesterday. Cameo was super nice in giving each one of us these things.

"You excited?" Avalon said, as he laced up his shoes. He wore a black sweatshirt with black athletic sweatpants, with his silver laced combat boots.

"Actually yeah, I am" I replied with a smile. I stood up and sat myself on my desk facing him. "I mean I'm also nervous, but it's just training, so I'm sure it'll all be okay"

"Nah, don't be nervous. We're all gonna be there, and like you said, it's just training. Not a real thing" Avalon said smiling. He tugged on his boots tightly, and stood up. "Ready to head out?" I nod in reply and we head out the door. We meet the others for breakfast in the cafeteria, and all chat with each other. It's like we're a regular high school friend group, besides the whole organization, elemental power, weapon welding mess.

"Is everyone almost done?" I hear a familiar robotic voice buzz. "I'm supposed to bring you all to training!"

"Zoe!" Evan spits out, super happy. "How's our little robotic friend doing?"

Zoe floats over to Evan and spins around. "Energized! I hope you are too, because you've got a full day of training!"

I let off a small chuckle as I get up, and start to follow Zoe out the door, as the rest of the crowd follows. She leads us down the same hallway that we went down for our other training, with the shadow figure, and where Clint died. My gut fills with guilt once again, but it wasn't my fault. I've told myself this so many times, but it still bothers me what happened. I push away these thoughts as Zoe stops right before the door.

"Okay, you will enter and grab your weapons. Arin and Jack, you will head to the room upstairs in the control room. There you will be monitoring the area and everyone's actions" Zoe says. She flies towards me and hums. "Please put your hand out"

Hesitant, I place my hand out and Zoe spins and drops a small ear piece looking thing. It's silver and made of metal. "It's an ear piece" Zoe says, as she places one in everyone's hand. "Place it in either of your ears and Jack and Arin can communicate with you from anywhere" She says. "Alright, good luck!" Zoe says and leads Jack and Arin upstairs.

"Good luck guys!" Arin yells backwards, giving a confident thumbs up towards us as Jack follows her waving at us.

"Well, is everyone ready then?" Avalon says, placing his ear piece in his ear and I do the same.

"Yeah, I believe so" Amalia says, smiling. Reyna gives the rest of us a nod and Avalon opens the door and we enter the biggest room of Corp 4.

Before, the room was open and empty, and the glass room was on the right side. Instead, the room is covered with hills and trees, and a large hill on the left side of the room, with a overhanging cliff. The room was about the size of a football field, by estimate. Our weapons lay against the wall next to the door, and I immediately grab my rapier.

"Welcome, Class 8!" Cameo's voice booms out across the room. "First day of official training! So, first mission for the day. You will all need to retrieve a textbook in this room. Where is it? Deep within all this terrain." He pauses. "However, there will be a few...obstacles in your way. Maia and Avalon, please head up the left side mountain, and work on your farther distance training, helping Orion, Evan, Reyna and Amalia on the front line." Cameo explains. "And remember, Jack and Arin are at your disposal, equipped with a map and some other key information" He finishes, and goes quiet before speaking a few words. "Good luck everyone"

I grip my rapier and take a deep breath. Everyone grabs their respective weapons; Avalon with his bow, Evan with his arm claws, Maia's glove, Reyna's dual daggers, and Amalia's floating pistols. Avalon and Maia give us a strong look and start scaling the cliff, getting a better view from the top of the cliff.

"So, Jack, Arin, can you hear us?" Reyna said, speaking out loud.

"YES, WE CAN" Arin says, yelling into our ears loudly, sound coming from the ear pieces.

"Arin, you don't need to yell" Jack says and we all chuckle. "Yeah, we can hear you. We've got a map of the place here" Jack explains

"Yeah, so the terrain is placed like a big circle. There's a small hill in the center of the forest thing, and the textbook looks like it's there" Arin explains.

"The fastest route is cutting through the forest, through directly the middle" Maia chimes in. "From up here, it seems like the quickest route"

Okay, cut through the forest and find the textbook in the middle of it. Easy enough

"You all ready?" Amalia says, standing firmly.

"Yeah, let's move forward" Evan replies and we start to move forward towards the forest, Before we reach the edge of the woods, I see Avalon with an arrow nocked and Maia looking very intently towards the center of the woods. Before we can proceed any further, a shadowy figure jumps out of the woods line and straight over our heads. It lands behind us, and hisses.

"Already?!" Evan yelled, preparing for an attack. The figure jumps forward, ready to destroy, but before it can get any further, and quick yellow flash happens and the figure is on the ground, an arrow sticking out of it's hip.

"I got you covered" Avalon says through the earpiece, smiling as I look backwards towards the top of the cliff. "You can now proceed"

"Thank you Avalon!" Amalia says, giving him a wave. Geez, he saved our lives once again.

The forest is thick with vines and large bushes everywhere. It's hard to see ahead of us and anywhere around us. I stick close to Reyna's side as she engulfs one of her blades in fire and partially burns a path for us.

"Uh, Jack?" I ask, speaking out loud, hoping he's still listening.

"What's up?" He replies in my ear.

"Are we still on route for the middle?" I ask, hoping we're still heading to the center of the woods. There, is the textbook we need and then we can get out of here.

"You're veering of the path a little bit, go to your right a little more" Jack instructs us and Reyna turns to the right and starts pressing forward. "Perfect, only a few more minutes until you're there!"

"You ready?" Amalia asks us, standing close to Evan's side as he bashes his way through the woodline using his arm guard blades.

"For?" Evan replies instantly.

"I mean, look. We haven't seen an enemy in a little while, you think it's gonna be that easy to retrieve it?" She questions us, and it makes sense. There is more than likely an ambush waiting.

"Avalon, Maia, what does the middle look like?" Reyna says, stopping in her tracks. "We need to assess our surroundings"

"From up here, the middle is a circle, and open clearing" Maia begins. "There are 4 pillars, and then the textbook is on a pedestal. You guys are close to the middle, I can see the smoke from the fire"

We're close. I grip my rapier tightly, causing some frigid air to be released, leaving some light frost on the leaves next to me. I'm ready to fight.
