Cameo pulls into the parking lot of the stadium, and I notice matching black cars scattered around the lot as well. Cameo pulls out his phone and does something on there while I give a glance over to Avalon, seeing his thoughts but he was still looking outside the window. I could see his eyes scanning the area, what seemed to be looking for something.
"Just a few more moments" Cameo says to us. "Anything you want to know?" He asks us. Anything I want to know? There's a million questions that I could ask, but Avalon beats me to it.
"Why us?" He asks curiously. Cameo smirks as I can see in the rear-view window. I couldn't tell if it was an evil smirk, or just a good question.
"You'll find out soon enough" Cameo tells us as I look out the window to my left. A few more moments pass before Cameo's phone buzzes.
"Alright Orion and Avalon, it's time" He unbuckles his seat belt and steps out of the car and instructs us to do the same. As I step out of the car, I notice all the other car doors open as well, and 2 students from the cars exit as well.
"Follow me and keep close" Cameo instructs us as Avalon and I start to following him towards the stadium entrance. I gaze around to see people around my age, looking as confused as I was. I noticed Avalon's slight height advantage on me, as he was about the same height as Cameo. We arrived at the entrance of the stadium as the other kids follow their guides to what seems like 2 sides of the stadium. I'd guess that there are about 50 students here, by what I can see.
"Keep up" Cameo chuckles as he brings us to the elevators and steps inside. Avalon and I follow close. "I'm your guide for the Trial today" He began. "Trust me, I understand this makes no sense, and you are confused. I can't say much because of the rules and whatever, but just trust yourself. That's my biggest advice for you" He says, giving us each a smile. The door opens and we continue to follow him. Cameo is the only one I can trust at the moment, so I guess that's my only choice. He brings us to a small room, split in 2 chunks by a dividing wall. "Go change, and I'll continue to explain after" He says. Avalon and I give each other a look as we take separate sides and I shut the door behind me. On a table in front of me is a black, fitted tracksuit, with a white skinny stripe on the side. I quickly change to the outfit, and it fits comfortably well. I neatly fold my clothes and leave them on the table, and head back to meet Cameo.
Avalon is wearing the same thing when I emerge, and standing near Cameo. I approach them and Cameo gives me a smile and begins to talk.
"Your first Trial will begin shortly. Remember, trust yourself. You will get answers soon and everything will make sense." He instructs us. That's the second time he's said that, must be some sort of clue or something. He checks his watch and says "Time to go" He turns around and Avalon and I follow him outside and back towards the elevators.
Avalon turns to me, and says "Good luck with whatever we're doing" He chuckles. I do the same and say "Thanks" with a smile. I hope that we could team up with whatever we're doing, if that's even a choice. The elevator is fast and we reach the bottom before I can mentally prepare myself. We follow close to Cameo, my heart pounding. We reach a long tunnel, like the ones in a football game, where the players leave and enter.
Cameo puts a hand on each of our shoulders and smiles, and says "This is it. I hope to see you guys on the other side" He says and leaves us with a group of students as well.
"Do you have any idea what the hell is going on?" Avalon asks me the second Cameo leaves our presence as we begin to head towards the outside of the tunnel.
"No idea at all" I reply honestly, with no real answer. We reach the end of the tunnel, and us students are gathered in a small group as we emerge. A bright lights flashes us and we go blind for a second. My heart is pounding out of my chest.
When my eyes adjust to the light and I can see again, I gaze around. The covered stadium has countless amounts of weapons lying around, from guns to swords, crossbows and throwing daggers, with the center area, where the football field would be, a mountainous area, with giant stones coming out of the ground. I see the other half of the students on the other side of the stadium, but my thoughts are quickly interrupted.
"Welcome to your Calling!" A hearty strong manly voice echoes and booms throughout the stadium. "It's time to test your skills, and awaken yourself, in your first Trial!" It continues. Awaken myself? Test my skills? I think, nervous and scared. "BEGIN!" It booms.
With another flash, countless figures are materialized around the stadium. Some holding swords, others bows and more knives. A single arrow flies through the sky and hits one of the figures in the chest and it disappears in thin air. I connect the dots. We have to kill these figures before they kill us. With a single bell sound, the figures begin to move and start running and attacking us. Students are screaming as they run, and get away from their attackers. Some grab the nearest weapon to them and attack the figures, while others do it with their fists.
I sprint to one side as a figure throws a spear at my head and I just barely miss it. I instantly connect the dots for this crazy scheme. Fight or Flight instincts. It's our survival. But who would put us into a killing match? Before I can even think about what I want to do, my instinct is the run and analyze the situation. I was interrupted by this when I hear vivid screaming from the corner. A student is holding two daggers in her hand, glowing red as can be. Flames begin to wrap around her arms, and daggers. The fire wraps around both her and the weapon, and finally glows a bright gold. Without thinking, she throws the daggers and figures explode in fire in which the weapon made contact with.
Awaken yourself....find your inner power? What power though, if any? I ponder these thoughts briefly before I feel a figure closing in behind me. A sword is laying on the ground ahead of me. I push my legs forward, sprinting and grab the sword and spin around slicing the figure in half. No power, no gold flash. More close in on me, as the words of doubt invade my thoughts. I didn't react like that other girl did. I'm doomed.
