Never thought about polygamy

I've been with August at his house for a month now and it's been heaven. He goes out every now and then but that was expected and he makes up for it.

There is nothing better than waking up to the man you love, trust me. Here he is now.

“Hey, bae," he says, snaking an arm around my waist.

I smile and lean into him.

“So, last night-" he starts before I interrupt him.

“Don't even bring that up. You know I didn't know what I was doing," I say, pointing my finger at him.

“Yeah but did you have to make the potato salad taste like pig's feet at my family reunion?"

“Look, I told you I can only cook noodles," I say.

“You gone have to learn how to cook around here. I would like to eat some unburnt eggs in the morning."

“Cereal it is then!"

"Bet my family wished they had cereal instead of your potato salad," he says, standing behind a chair.

"Shut up!" I command.

“Or what?" he asks, raising an eyebrow and stepping towards me.

I take a step back on reflex, but he keeps moving forward. Next thing I know, I hit the refrigerator, trapped by him.

“Cat got your tongue? I can fix that," August says before crashing his lips onto mine.

My lips immediately part. I feel his tongue gently brush mine. I wrap my arms around his neck as his arms pull me closer to his body. I feel like I'm floating right now. I feel his warmth radiating on me. His mouth on my, moving slowly with so much passion that I wouldn't be able to stand if I wasn't so wrapped up in him. Then he pulls away.

“Good morning," he says with a grin.

I laugh. Really, that's the best thing he could say.

“So what are you doing today?" I ask, moving to lean on the counter.

“Why you say we like you don't fit in?" he asks, leaning on the counter beside me.

“You do you. I was just asking," I say.

“I brought you here to be with you. I'm gone do that today," he says.

“Okay. What are we doing?"

“Going swimming in my pool. You ain't been in there yet and I haven't seen you in a bikini," he says, smacking my butt.

“I don't have a swim suit," I say.

“Aww, too bad, " August says without sincerity, “I'm playing. You got one but why wear it? I already seen you naked."

“Bye, boy," I say, laughing and going upstairs.

I come downstairs and he's gone, but his phone's on the table. I look at it and it shows he has a missed call and a text. I never been the jealous type but I would be a fool not to wonder what he does as 'business' when he's not in the studio or on tour.

I walk away though. Not gone be one of those girls.

( Skip)

“What's on your mind?" August asks, sneaking up on me in the pool.

“Nothing," I say.

“I can tell. What's up?"

“Where do you go when you handle on business?"

He pauses.

“Why?" he questions, shocking me.

“Why? Because I want to know," I say.

“I mean, you ain't ask before. I don't see why it matters now."

“It didn't but you acting like you can't answer a simple question makes it makes it matter."

“Nothing much. Talk music with my manager. Hang out with my homies and the fam," he says.

I swim away. All that for music and friends? Right.

He catches up to me.

“You mad at me?" he asks, backing me up into the side of the pool.

“Nope," I say, letting my legs float.

“Look, whatever I'm doing don't change us, iight? This real."

“Yeah,"

He puts his finger under my chin, making me face him.

“I care about you enough to bring you home to my mama. Don't that say something? If you want soft, you shoulda stayed with that boy," he says.

“I want you. My bad," I say.

He smiles and kisses me. I kiss him back. Just like that we made up.

We shower and go to bed laughing. But later August's phone has his attention more than me. He kept texting. He left his phone on the nightstand before he left the room.

I tiptoe over there and the screen lights up with a text. Since his phone didn't lock yet, I look without opening it. The name is Drea. The text says, that was great. See you tonight. Your Drea.

He gets another text that I don't read because I hear footsteps. I run to the bed and get under the covers. August comes in and takes his phone. I can see that he's dressed in new clothes.

He calls my name but I fake sleep. When he leaves, I follow, driving one of his spare cars.

He pulls up to a gang way near a strip club. He talks to a few girls and exchange caresses. I get out of the car and creep closer to get a better look. I walk up and can't believe who I see him talking to. It's Diamond.

All I hear is August say, “what's up, Drea?"

Isn't she with Drake? Why is August calling her Drea when he knows who she is, knows that's his home boy's girl? Aren't she and Drake in love? If not, why is she with my man, and how long have they been meeting? More importantly, why?
