I walked through the snowy forest quietly, slowly and cold. Howl, went the wind. Then, I realized that-that wasn't the wind. That was something else. Suddenly, I heard barks, coming closer, closer, CLOSER! I ran, as fast as I could. Through the trees, jumping over logs. I was weary, close to having cubs. My heart pounded in my ears.
"I can't...do this....much longer...." I thought.
All I saw was black and darkness. I winced as my paws hit cold water. Something was coming into view. Ahead, I saw a cliff. I found all the lynx power inside of me and jumped. I looked behind me, seeing the wolves barking at me. I was finally free, after all that nonsense. I padded through the soft snow, my paw pads feeling a slight chill. I was made to walk in this weather. I stepped on hidden ice under the snow. It pierced my paw pad and a jolt ran through me as I winced in shock and pain. I looked at my paw, then shook it to get the cold feeling to go away. It didn't really work, but I kept walking. A small red trail was coming from my paw pad. I wiped it on the snow, and it seemed to stop. I was making my way into a clearing. The trees were everywhere, their minty, rich odor making it hard to identify other scents. As I trod into the clearing, the stars lowered to where I could see them. I looked up at the sky. There was something different. Where there were nothing in the sky but randomly scattered stars, now there were visible constellations. I trotted, but then I started to run. It felt so good to be running through the wind. It felt so good.
