The next morning, it took me 10 more minutes to get up and out of bed because I went to bed way too late. So I grabbed my glasses, brushed my teeth, tied my hair into a high ponytail and then slipped on my leggings and a graphic tee and I was out to get coffee.
"You look miserable," I hear and turn and it was no other than Isaac. Seeing me at my very worst. Why did I have no shame in that?
"I am," I state.
"How shall I cheer you up?" He grins.
"Don't, I'll cut you," I reply. "I just need 4 coffees and a Full Throttle."
"You would have a heart attack. Unless that's what you're aiming for," he says.
"How are you this... energetic in the morning?" I ask.
"I'm used to getting up early," he shrugs.
"That's fine, I don't get up that late. I just don't know how you're like happy..." I reply and he laughs.
"You're right, I pop 7 adderall before I head out," he says and I laugh a bit and he smiles. "No, I do just sit in my bed for like 15 minutes contemplating if schools worth it... and then when I'm done, I'm fine" He adds.
"Sounds about similar to mine. Besides being fine. I have a horrible sleeping schedule," I say and the door opens and we both walk out. "And it's exactly why I have an obsession with coffee."
"Oh, you're not worried about that whole 'you're gonna grow a tail' thing?" He laughs.
"Oh my godd, my mom always said that to me!" I grin. "What a weird way to scare children into not drinking coffee."
"Right?" He laughs.
"Yet again I started drinking coffee when I was like 13," I said. "Do you drink coffee?"
"Yeah," he nods. "Probably not as much as you do... but I drink it," he nods and I laugh.
"Well... I'm going to get one on campus. I'm already a local if you wannt join," I say.
"Sure," he nods. "And already a local. That's impressive! You've been here for only 3 days," he says.
"And in those 3 days I've had more than 3 coffees," I state and he laughs.
"So you're a coffee fiend then?"
"For sure," I nod.
"Getting to know more and more about the weird Liv... what's your last name?" He asks.
"Marsh," I reply.
"Liv Marsh. It makes sense..." he says.
"What?"
"You are a fucking martian!!" He says and I laugh. "I'm serious. I don't think I've met someone like you yet. In the best way," he tells me.
"Well... I'm happy you say that, considering I really believe in aliens," I reply. "I have made several plans to get into Area 51."
"I have too. But it's only been that I dress up as an alien and you know try," he says. "It's a very poor attempt," he laughs.
"I mean. I would tell you about all my theories and plans to get there... but I'm affraid it'd scare you away," I mutter.
"No way. Remember you're my new best friend," He says.
"I thought we agreed that I only told you to eat my ass once. So that means that we aren't just there yet," I said.
"I never agreed... it's too late to turn back from being my best friend. It's like... there now. It's labeled no peeling it off," he shakes his head and we get to the coffee shop.
"I mean.... I don't know how I feel about that," I say.
"I know bestie. Extatic!" He grins and I laugh making his smile grow.
"Hey, what can I get for you guys?" A guy asks. "Ahh... our new regular right," it was Wes the other guy who worked here.
"Yeah!" I say. "I'll just have the-" he cuts me off.
"Maisie put your order in already," he tells me. "You?" He asks Isaac.
"Nothing," Isaac replies and I give him a look.
"You go through your whole day without a coffee?" I ask. "You're crazy, and plus they're good here!"
"I thought we were middle class?" Wes grins.
"Yes, but so far for what I've had here! Good middle class coffee," I say. "Get something... on me," I add.
"No, I'm an independent male," he says and I roll my eyes at him.
"He will have the same as me," I tell Wes and he nods. "It's what best friends doooo!" I singsong.
"I didn't want anything!" He laughs I shrug. I pay and we wait for out coffees.~
I finished my first class and I had a break before my next class, so... coffee. I got there and Maisie was there now.
"Liv!!" She smiles when she see's me I grin.
"Hey," I reply. "I'm back again."
"How much coffee do you drink?" She laughs and I pull out my money.
"Too much to talk about," I laugh with her. I give her the money. "Don't you have classes?"
"I had one earlier and I had only one class today," she gives me my change and she starts making the drink. Someone else comes in. "Welcome in I'll be to you in a minute," she says and I look and it was Miles! From yesterday.
"Miles!" I say and he turns. I smile. "Skaterboy you'd never expect to be into literature!" I add and he lets out a laugh.
"Liv, the girl who looks like she'd be into math," he says.
"What!? No way! I hate math!" I said.
"And I like literature," he shrugs.
"Whatever," I say. "Didn't take you as a coffee person either," I add.
"What do you think I do. Drink Monsters and skate all day?" He laughs. "My names not Kyle!" I laugh at that.
"Here Liv, and what can I get you" Maisie asks.
"Just a blended coffee," he tells her, same order as me. I it down at one of the tables pulling out my phone to wait for my next class. "Mind if I sit with you?" I hear and look up it's Miles.
"No, go ahead" I nod and he sits across from me. "Do you come here often?" I ask. "That sounds like a lame guy trying to flirt... but I was being genuine."
"Not too often. I've barely been here for a week," He laughs. "Do you?"
"Very... like 2 times a day," I nod.
"Damn."
"Are you from California?" I ask.
"No, I'm from Portland" he says.
"So the best place for coffee!! Oh my god!" I reply and he laughs. "So are you a bigger fan of coffee than I?"
"For some off reason... no," he shakes his head. "Are you from here?"
"No Arizona," I say. "Don't ask why I didn't go to ASU."
"I wasn't going to... it's a party school with like a 86 percent acceptance rate. You seem better than that," he tells me.
"Oh my god... thank you!" I grin. "I thought so too. Even though most of my friends did go there... it's just not somethign to be proud of," I nod.
"Well... it's their life I guess," he shrugs. "It's just has the vibe of daterape... frats and sororities," He nods. I laugh. "I mean... I don't know if you're in a sorority... so sorry if that offended you."
"Oh hell no!" I exclaim. "Never a sorority... like no offence to anyone in them, it's just not my forte," I state.
"Alex! I'm telling you they have good banana bread and coffee!!" A girl says loudly and I look past Miles and see Alex walking in with a girl. My smile almost drops as I watch them stop at the counter and she laughs. She had long blonde hair with blue eyes and she was short and petite. She was wearing short denim shorts and a crop top.
So easy for him to jsut move on. I wantes to immediately leave. I didn't want to be mad, or sad or whatever I was feeling... but I was. It was still early, it was still a fresh wound and I didn't want to be here to see him already flirting and going out with someone else. I turn to Miles.
"Sorry, but my next class... is actually in like 5 minutes and across campus so I should go," I stand up.
"Yeah, see you tomorrow" he nods and I grab my bag off the floor and grab my coffee.
"Bye!" I grin trying to act fine with everything. I head towards the door and Alex turns just as I pass him and his smile drops and he watches me leave. I make an abrupt turn and leave feeling my heart beat in my chest hard. It made me feel sick to see that... I was angry that I felt like that, but he was still an ex. I shake my head watching the floor until I bump into someone.
"Shit, sorry" I shake my head looking up to see the only Isaac. Of course.
"Four-eyes!" He smiles and my lips part surprised.
"Excuse me!?" I ask almost laughing. His smile grows.
"We're friends, we need nicknames for each other" he nods.
"Oh so I'm four-eyes? That's disrespectful," I state and he laughs.
"You were about to laugh! Don't lie," he points out.
"Whatever.........." I sigh when I can't think of a nickname for him.
"Tattoos, cutie, hottie, bestie... that's just a couple," he shrugs.
"Cutie? Hottie? You wish," I say.
"I do actually," he nods. "Or you know... stick with my name.."
"I'll stick with asshat," I shake my head. "I gotta go, I have class."
"Can I walk you?"
"Why?" I ask and he rolls his eyes.
"Cause I want to," he replies and it almost makes me smile
"Fine, it's across campus" I said and he shrugs.
"I'm not busy," he says, we start walking again, while making another weird ass conversation that we always end up talking about.
