Chapter 2
"Don't worry lil' sis; big sis got you".... Talisha
Cavon wrapped his arms around Ms. Quins’s petit waist. He was use to her presence, since he was use to playing with her twin grandsons who were around his age; whenever they would visit her during the weekends. Ms. Quins looked down at Cavon as his tears dampened through her linen cream pants. She felt so much compassion for Cavon that she tried to muster up the strength to hold back her very own tears. Neighbors and locals from the area started to fill the corners of the streets as police made their presence known.
Ms. Quins had bend down to comfort Cavon more than just rubbing on his back. “Cavon, baby. The police and ambulance are here. I called your aun’t Talisha, and she said she was calling your grandmother too. You are going to be just fine. I won’t let anyone hurt you or take you away from me until your people come. You understand?” She said as she tried to find the answer to her question by just looking into his watery eyes.
Cavon couldn’t take his eyes off the front door to his home. His mother’s life was all he was worried about. Ms. Quins was alarmed from the sounds of ambulances and cop cars sirens combined, as she caressed Cavon’s curly low top fade.
“Ma’am, I’m officer Harold with JPPD, we received a call about there being a sudden shooting in your neighbors home. Can you let us know what you heard? We have officers approaching the condo as we speak.” A dark-skinned cop, who looked to be around his early forties said with a strong and bold New Orleans accent.
Ms. Quin’s held Cavon tighter to her thigh as she communicated back with the officer as she said, “Yes, I’m the women who called. This young boy right here in my arms is the son of the women that has been shot inside of that condo that’s right across the street. We were not inside and all he told me is that his mama been shot. I came outside my house right here to find out, what the hell had happened? I knew I did hear a gun go off, but I had no clue that it was this child’s mother officer.”
The officer nodded and gave a thumb up to the other three officers to knock on the door. He still didn’t quit grasped an understanding for the reasoning to the shooting or as to why something still didn’t sit right with him about the shooting.

Talisha pulled into her sister’s community. She could barely find her way through the cars that were parked on both sides of the high way. She clenched her teeth as she parallel parked her car to someone’s driveway close-by.
“Lord, a bitch do not have the time for this shit today. I hope my lil’ sister al’right. Fuck! I don’t know how to live without her now. No matter how much she pisses me off, that’s still will always be my lil’ sista. Plus, a bitch like me never gave two fucks about Everton or Warren anyways!” She muttered angry to herself as she slammed her car door and made sure it was locked.
She stormed up the street, until she was greeted with cold looks from strangers, and bystanders who watched as paramedics started to roll bodies from her sister’s condo. The female paramedic that was taking her time rolling her sister way to the ambulance stopped in her tracks as she cautiously watched as Talisha paced quickly to the young woman on her stretcher.
“Please, wait that’s my lil’ sister,” she said as the already frantic paramedic stopped for just a few seconds.
Casey was still holding on to the little life she felt that she had in her body. Her sister’s smile made a break through in her pain. As much as she wanted to talk to her sister, all she was able to do was smile back.
“Casey, please be strong for your son, for me, and for grandma. You is all the hell that I have left and I swear to God that I don’t want to lose you. Who the fuck did this shit to you Casey? Which one of them niggas? I promise you which ever one of them niggas that did this shit to you will have something coming for ‘em. Could you tell me which one did this fucked up shit to you; before they wheel you into West Jeff.”
Casey nodded her head and whispered softly to her sister. “It was Everton and I want that coward ass nigga dead.”
Talisha nodded her head as she cracked a slight wicked smile as the sound of Everton’s name was like a shoot of heroin entering her veins.
