PROLOGUE II~

The next morning she woke up. She didn't understand, she felt that something had happened. Her head was fuzzy.

She shrugged it off.

As she went to get a fork, her body didn't listen. Her hand picked up a knife.

'Huh?' she thought, 'I don't want a knife!'

But Project ARiLiA obviously did. She didn't remember what had happened in her dream, she was helpless prey. Luckily the only thing Project ARiLiA wanted the knife for was toast.

But things might change.

At school, things were worse. Project ARiLiA ruined all her friendships.

Lia didn't suspect it. She thought there was something wrong with her soul.

But that changed when she was in the middle of art. Lia was questioning what had happened earlier on in this past months. Then, with a jolt she remembered.

She remembered the flash of evil grinning teeth.

She remembered the evil words of give me your soul

She remember the gleaming, evil, red eyes.

It was too late. In this instant, she realized.

It was far too late.

'HELP!' she screeched. 'Help please!'

No one heard her silent cries, her pleas for help.

Her body was sitting perfectly still, with a lopsided, evil smile.

Evil.

'Anyone!?' she shouted desperately, but it was no use. Project ARiLiA had taken full control of her body and she knew it. She felt like crying, but no tears would come. She spent the rest of the lesson sobbing inside.

She was miserable, there was no one she could talk to, she was all alone in her own little world. Yet she had to fight the monster inside her, she had to keep her will strong, because that was the only thing stopping it from taking over her soul. Her strong will.

Then, one day, after arriving home from school, she heard the front door slam. She could hear Project ARiLiA chucking, it's voice raspy. Lia didn't understand.

She never expected it.

Her dad came in, weeping, in his hands a tiny pink baby.

Lia gasped, but Project ARiLiA did nothing but stare.

Her father stood next to Lia, then dropped his voice so low Lia had to strain to hear it.

'Your mother didn't make it,' he turned and left the room, but not in time before her caught a glance at her expression in the mirror.

An evil, evil grin spread across her face.

This, of course, wasn't Lia. Lia wasn't in control.

Inside Lia had snapped.

Project ARiLiA knew she had snapped. It knew its chance was finally here.

Lia didn't care. She couldn't breathe, the world was crashing down. The mother she had loved so dearly, gone so quickly.

All because of that little pink baby. Was it a devil? She wondered.

But the devil was inside her.

Inside her mind, everything went black. Then, as if a spotlight shone in, she could see herself. It was like she was watching herself in a film, but at the same time, she could control the person she was watching. It took a minute for the concept to settle, then she realized.

She could move. She could walk. The person she was watching, no, she could control herself. She was freed from the curse of being paralysed.

Her fit of joy took her mind away from the important things.

Deep down in her mind, she knew what was coming next.

It approached her slowly, cautiously.

The true form of Project ARiLiA.

It grinned, an evil, slimy grin.

It took a step towards her.

It reached out.

Then, once again, Lia was paralysed.

With fear.

Her breathing was ragged, eyes wide and bright. Yet, somewhere in all this mess, Lia realized where they were.

In her heart.

So, you finally noticed?  Its voice harsh. It's so pretty, isn't it? So white and pure.

Lia was puzzled, white and pure?

Yes it is it smiled. You never knew did you? You're too kind, too good. You never once complained about being paralysed, never once thought 'why me?' You're an angel. An angel who will be destroyed by a devil. How brilliant is that!

It was cackling, it's head thrown back psychotically. It circled her, inspecting her like she was a piece of meat.

They both knew, they knew what was going to happen.

'I'm not an angel,' she thought, 'My heart isn't white and pure, and I refuse to let you take my soul.'

Its breath hissed in between his teeth.

Going to be difficult, eh? I'll make you regret it, i'll make you regret ever being born. It's red eyes twinkled, pupils narrowing to slits.

Suddenly, a thousand thoughts and memories shot through her brain.

Her mother slowly suffocating.

Her mother crying for help.

Crying silently.

No one hearing. Just like her.

Her mother shouting for Lia to help. Lia not hearing. Her dying. Dying painfully.

Then she saw her mother on the hospital bed, coughing blood, doctors not understanding.

They never did.

All because of that pink demon baby.

Hate, sadness, despair, it rushed through her veins, pumping to her heart. Her body was burning, writhing in pain.

Then it came, a single scream. It shattered her eardrums and pierced through the air. It rang in the silence of the room.

It was her scream. The first noise that Lia had made, it was her mouth moving. Not a robot doing it for her.

All the sadness, happiness, anger, pain, everything that Lia had suffered on her own all came out, in that one lonely wail.

It made hearts ache.

It's time! Project ARiLiA basked in her pain. Finally! Finally! It's the beginning of the end! It laughed hysterically. Lia could feel deep inside, her soul disappearing. Bit by bit.

Dogs all over the city howled.

Babies all over the city cried.

Mirrors all over the city shattered.

They could feel the presence of Project ARiLiA.

Project ARiLiA becoming whole.

Her eyes rolled back, her mouth gaping, Lia fell to the floor, an empty shell.

The red, glowing eyes shone through.

Then she was gone.

Completely.
