8 months later

Kassie bounced her leg up and down nervously. She fiddled with her thumbs and kept biting her lip.

Caiden squeezed my hand in a reassuring way.

I wasn't as obvious as Kassie but he could still tell I was nervous.

"Kassie darling," Ayla's mother spoke, placing her hand in Kassie's knee to stop it from bouncing. "You need to calm down."

The brunette nodded.

"I'm just nervous." She muttered.

We all were.

No one had to say anything.

We were all nervous and excited.

"I'm going to get coffee. Anybody else want some?" I asked, standing up.

Mr. and Mrs. Carters shook their heads politely.

"I'm good." Caiden told me, letting go of my hand.

"I'll come." Kassie shot up from her seat.

We started on out way to the Dunkin Donuts in the hospital cafeteria.

"I actually can't believe this is happening." Kassie spoke as we stepped in to the elevator. "My brother is gonna be a dad. And I'm gonna be an aunt."

I too was in slight shock. It was finally happening.

After a month of Ayla and Kade arguing about the baby, Kade came around.

Now he was more excited than ever to be a dad.

They decided they would both have equal parts in their child's life, even though they weren't together.

Caiden and I had made our relationship official a few weeks later, in mid October.

And Kent had confided in me about his new found feelings for Kassie. He told me he was planning on taking her to prom.

Safe to say this school year has been quite eventful.

"It's pretty insane to think about." I replied.

We stepped out of the elevator and headed down a long hall.

"This whole year feels like a weird fever dream." Kassie said.

I couldn't agree more.

"I feel like I'm gonna wake up and none of this will have ever happened." I added.

We took a right and approached the Dunkin Donuts counter.

After putting in our orders and receiving our drinks we quickly made our way back to the waiting room.

"I'm starting to get worried." Kassie admitted, as we sat back down. "She's been in labour for a while."

"If anything was wrong they'd tell us." Caiden reassured.

But Kassie did have a point. It had been almost an hour since Ayla was supposed to have the baby.

But just as that thought crossed my mind, an elated Kade opened the hospital room door and motioned for all of us to come inside.
