My tires crunched against the dirt driveway, as I pulled up in front of the beautiful colonial home.

Kassie stepped out of the red door and down the front steps.

The light breeze outside caused her cardigan to wrap around her stomach.

As she opened the passenger side door, I smiled at her.

"So are you gonna tell me why you requested that I pick you up today?" I asked, backing out of the driveway.

"Oh yeah. I have quite that story to tell you."

"What is it?" I glanced over at her.

"Last night, I heard someone in Kade's room, and it sounded like a girl. So I went and checked the cars in the driveway. You're not gonna believe who's Jeep was there."

I sorta had an idea where this was going now that she said Jeep. I only knew one person with a Jeep, that would make this story important.

"It was Ayla's. Like I think Ayla and Kade have this secret thing going on." She sighed.

My grip tightened on the steering wheel.

I was completely unsure how to feel.

On one hand I was so happy that Ayla had found someone, especially someone as nice as Kade. Because Ayla always seemed to attract the assholes, and dickwads.

But on the other hand, what will happen if they breakup? We've all been friends for a long time, and then everything would be awkward.

I do tend to over think things though so, maybe I just need to see how this plays out.

"Do you seriously think it was Ayla?" I finally broke the silence.

"I'm pretty damn sure." She nodded, her half-up half-down hair bouncing with it.

I pulled in to my usual parking space, in the middle of the large parking lot.

"Maybe they're planning your surprise party?" I supplied.

Shrugging as she stepped out of the car, she replied. "I doubt it. Kade wouldn't be planning a surprise party for me when we literally have the same birthday."

"Do you think we ask them, or see if they decide to bring it up eventually?" I asked, locking the vehicle.

We approached the large, three story building, along with all the other masses of students.

"I think we just wait and see if anything happens. Oh I didn't even ask you about Kent. How was you're study session?"

"It was lots of fun, and we actually did study. But then he got a call from his mom and rushed out the door." I said, the smile on my face wavering slightly.

"Oh that's weird." She furrowed her brows.

"I know, but I'll get to ask him soon. We were gonna meet at the upstairs lounge this morning." I explained walking towards the main stairs.

"You better tell me why he left, later." She smiled as we parted ways.

I chuckled and nodded, climbing the two flights of stairs the top floor.

One of the only down sides to living in a huge city, is the massive school.

My school is one of the smaller ones in the city, with only two thousand and one hundred students. And a only three floors high.

I walked past the teachers' lounge and towards the student lounge at the end of the hall.

The student lounge was a large room, with a pool table, foosball table, and ping-pong table.

Colourful couches and arm chairs were placed around the room, and posters advertising clubs and extracurriculars covered the walls.

Not many students hung out in the upstairs lounge, as the one in the library was much bigger. Although it didn't have as many games tables as this lounge did.

I sat on a red couch in the back corner.

I didn't sit in the back corner because there were lots of people, but simply because it was the only comfortable couch in the whole room.

The only people here were three girls that looked like they were only freshmen, sitting on the blue couch by the ping-pong table. And two junior guys, aggressively yelling at each other whilst playing foosball.

"Come on you dipshit stop cheating." The blonde boy with the pink shirt yelled. His friend in an America Eagle hoodie chuckled, dropping the plastic ball in the center of the table.

I watched their game while I waited for Kent. But then they left, and I kept waiting.

Then the three girls left. And I was alone. Still waiting for Kent.

At this point I decided to text him.

'Babe I'm upstairs in the lounge waiting for you' I hit send and and sighed.

Part of me was finally deciding that I'd be alone until classes started, when someone wandered through the door.

He looked tired and physically exhausted.

Unlike usual his adidas hoodie sleeves were pulled down to his hands. And he wore grey jogging pants as opposed to his commonly worn khaki pants.

His blue eyes were a dull grey, and his blonde hair was ruffled.

And to my surprise, he sat down right next to me.

"Whatcha doing here alone?" Caiden asked.

The couch sunk with the weight of his body.

He was pretty close to me. Almost uncomfortably close. Almost.

"Kent was supposed to meet me here, but he hasn't showed up yet." It sounded pathetic now that I said it out loud.

My boyfriend was a no-show, and he wasn't answering my text. And now I was gonna explaining this to one of his friends.

Caiden furrowed his brows and scratched his neck.

"Did ya text him?"

"Yeah. But I haven't talked to him since he ran out yesterday."

He offered a sad smile which only made me feel that much more pathetic.

Part of me wanted to cry.

I felt so awful.

"Something important prolly popped up. He'd definitely feel bad if he knew you were sitting here alone." Caiden reassured.

"Yeah." I hung my head down and fiddled with my hands in my lap.

"Hey," He lowered his head to face. "It's okay." He pushed a piece of my hair behind my ear.

"Yeah."

"You'll be fine right?" He asked, placing his large hand on my knee.

The moment his hand touched the bare skin trough the rip in my jeans, I felt my skin tingle.

Weird.

I nodded. So he got up and walked out of the room.

And this time I felt even more alone and upset.

A/N:
what do you guys think happened to Kent? And do you think Ayla and Kade have a secret thing?

Let me know.

See y'all next time.
