A month had passed. Kazan was still in that room. The food and water the scientists brought was merely for his survival, nothing more. He was getting deathly thin, and the others probably were too. To top it off, his wound was infected. He lay there on the cold floor wishing he would just die.
The door opened. Kazan hardly noticed. Two feet paused by his head. Kazan opened an eye to see Akuma.
"What are you doing?" she questioned. "Get up! We have work to do."
Kazan stayed where he was, wondering if he even had the strength to sit up. A strong kick to his ribs, however, made him stand.
"That's better," Akuma said. "Now then, let me see your Pokemon form."
He couldn't. He didn't know how. But, nonetheless, he closed his eyes, trying to remember what Kage had done.
"Houndoom," he whispered.
And suddenly, that was what he was.
"Good," Akuma said. "Change back. It's time for all of you to work on the next form."
Kazan changed back and fell to his hands and knees as Akuma left. He gasped for breath. Changing forms required more energy than he had. He felt dizzy, as if he were going to pass out. But he merely shook his head and got to his feet just as the door open and Akuma reentered with his siblings.
Kage gasped. She saw how thin Kazan was(which was much more than her). She saw the dried blood running down his arm. But what really freaked her out most, was the look of death in her brother's eyes.
"You all have entered your Pokemon form," Akuma began, "and now it's time for the human. When I come back, at least one of you better be human."
Akuma then left.
"Kazan!" Kage shouted, running to her brother's side.
Kage hugged her brother, feeling all his protruding bones. Kuro and Kurai ran over too.
"Change," Kazan said.
"What?" Kage questioned.
"Change," Kazan repeated. "Go into your human form. Do it."
Kage stared at Kazan as if she couldn't believe what he had just said. She took a couple steps back and closed her eyes.
"Human," she whispered to focus her thoughts.
Moments passed, nothing happened. The door opened again and Akuma entered, casting her disapproving glance about the room.
"Did I not make myself clear?" she challenged.
"I'm trying," Kage said.
"Trying isn't good enough!" Akuma shouted. She walked over to Kazan who was back on his knees was more. "Well?"
Kazan stayed put. He couldn't move if he wanted to. The room was spinning. Round and round and round it went.
Kazan then passed out.
He woke in the exact same place a day later. He was alone.
The door opened. Oni stepped into view.
"Get to your feet!" he commanded.
Kazan somehow got up. He saw his siblings with Oni.
"None of you have gotten to your human form," Oni said. "So guess what you're doing?"
Kage glanced over at Kazan as if he knew how.
"Well Kazan?" Oni challenged, seeing the exchange. "Have you figured it out?"
Kazan just stared.
"Well?!"
Kazan closed his eyes and concentrated. A whip cracked across his back. Kazan cried out and fell to his knees.
And suddenly, the anger was back. All the hatred he had for these people came back all at once. He growled. The collar cracked. He was somewhat aware of Oni taking a step back. And he whipped around.
And breathed fire.
The fire hit Oni dead on. Kazan got to his feet, grabbed Oni by the collar of his shirt, lifted him up, and used Flamethrower constantly on him. He watched the skin burn away, leaving only a clean white skeleton behind. When he looked back at his siblings, there was pure horror in their eyes. Kazan left the room and they, after a short pause left too.
Kazan was breathing fire at everything that could burn. Soon the building was burning along with it. They made it to the first floor. Akuma and Onara saw and moved to stop them. Kazan just knocked them out of his way, went into his Pokemon form, and ran out. Behind him, his siblings were doing the same.
And finally, they were out. The air was warm and they were all grateful to feel the sun.
But their glory was short lived. Onara ran out wielding a gun. Kazan grabbed Kuro by the scruff and ran off. Kage grabbed Kurai and followed.
They heard gun shots but no one got hit. Kazan closed his eyes and ran. And suddenly, space was ripped apart and a portal opened which all of them went through. And then, as if it had never been there in the first place, it closed.
And they were free.
