The memorial service goes by slowly and the announcement that it was in fact Lord Voldemort who killed him has me stunned.

Draco won't leave me alone since it happened, constantly worried about how I'm doing.

The days seem to pass slow for the year to end. Then summer finally comes.

Over summer Draco and I stay in touch through mail on almost a daily basis.

Slowly the pain of losing my brother dulls and the determination to keep those I have grows.

As summer ends, I become excited for the school year. I can't imagine a war breaking out so soon anyhow.

After the opening ceremony and the introductions of Professor Umbridge, I make my way over to Draco and sit by him, "Hey, what's up with the Ministry of Magic sending in a makeshift teacher?"

"They want to control what Dumbledore says, to stop his lies." Draco shrugs, rolling his eyes.

"So they want to silence my brother's murder." I look down with a sigh.

He puts a hand on my shoulder gently, "They just don't want the claims of you know who going around."

"Well if they don't want those rumors why aren't they investigating it?" I question, watching his face.

"You're hair is getting dull... Please don't let this get to you Y/n." He urges.

"Hands to yourself. And get back to your house table." Umbridge says, startling you.

You jump, your hair flickering white for a moment in the corner of your eye and you nod, "Sorry, Dumbledore usually didn't mind... I'll go... see you after dinner Draco..."

Umbridge puts a hand on my shoulder as I stand, "You'll be attending your free period with me to control that ability of yours. Minors aren't supposed to use it under any circumstances."

"I... yes Ma'am." I look down. "I'll see you in class tomorrow Professor..." I add in politely as I head back to my house table.

Draco watches as I head to my table and I look over to him when I sit and smile softly. He nods then turns to his friends.

"She really seems like a piece of work. What did she say?" Lilly questions.

"Just that we can't be at each other's tables and that I have to spend my free period with her learning to control my hair issue." I shrug.

"Oh Merlin's Beard. I knew a Ministry employee here would suck." Jude comments.

"Draco said she was here to basically control the narrative of what happened to my brother... To keep Potter and Dumbledore silent." I sigh, looking down.

"Well maybe you can get her to get the Ministry to look into your brother's murder." Lilly comments.

"You mean to use her? You really did spend to much with Crabbe this summer." I joke.

She blushes and looks over to the Slytherin table.

"So we agree Potter is telling the truth, right..?" Jude asks.

"Yea. I can't believe he would kill Cedric..." I say, looking down.

"Ok, so we need stuck together more then ever now." Jude says firm.

"We do. But your relationship is going to make things hard." Lilly says, looking at me.

I look over to Draco and sigh, "I know... but he isn't what everyone says he is."

"We know. We see the way he looks at you." Lilly smiles. "And Crabbe is pretty much ignored in the school, so nobody knows about us still."

"Might want to keep it that way." I mumble and slouch over.

The stress of the reality of what is coming is getting heavy.

After the meal is over, everyone heads to bed.

The next day Lilly and I walk into Potions class together.

"Y/n Diggory. Come here." Snape calls out.

Without a second thought, I walk over to him, keeping my head high. I know showing weakness doesn't end well with him. Draco told me holding my head up would help.

"The school will begin to change. I suggest you keep close to Draco. If you do, I will teach you defence and offence. As well as help with any unwanted dreams you may have." He says hushed.

"Really..?" I say, shocked.

"Draco will need protecting. Who better to protect him then the weak looking girl who follows him around?" Snape snaps as if it is obvious.

"I..." I start to want to argue but he has a point, I'm the one they won't suspect. And with Snape guiding me, I could learn a lot. "Thank you." I end up saying before walking back to my table.

He is clearly shocked for a moment due to my response but gathers himself and begins class.
