Metamorphmagus (Draco Malfoy x Reader)

On the train to Hogwarts I sit between the window and Draco.

At one point I get a sudden headache and thoughts of a ring pop up in my mind, causing my to squeeze my eyes shut. Draco strokes my hand and watches me worried.

I give him a reassuring smile as the headache fades as quickly as it came on.

The same thing happened with that journal Harry was carrying around first year.

It was weird really.

After some time of small talk about the break Pansy looks at us both, "So it's true then? You two got engaged? And your going through with it?"

"Problem?" Draco questions.

"No. Just curious. Bit young for that. Don't you think?" Pansy comments.

"It's our choice. Plus, you need someone to trust with the way things are going anymore." I respond and take Draco's hand in mine under the table.

"Suppose that's true. Are you taking Potions with us? Supposed to be the toughest class of the year." Pansy changes subject.

"Yea. I think it will be fun. Always loved a good challange." I shrug.

Draco squeezes my hand subtly. I glance to him and he just seems on edge.

It pains me to see him so burdened. But he wont tell me what is going on.

Suddenly the train car fills with smoke. The four of us stand and Draco goes into the isle with his wand at the ready.

"Probably just someone messing around. Come on, Draco, sit back down." Pansy says after a moment.

The rest of the students go back to their conversation as the four of us sit quietly.

Draco ends all conversation with us by explaining how the next two years he wont even need being at Hogwarts, that he has better things to do. I just roll my eyes and look out the window.

Whatever he was tasked is obviously heavy. He gets more arrogant when stressed.

Once at Hogwarts, Draco stays seated.

"You coming?" Pansy asks.

"You go. I'll catch up." Draco says. "You too Y/n." He adds, letting me out.

I sigh and stand outside the train waiting. Pansy and Blaise follow everyone off.

Suddenly all the window blinds on the car go down. I slip back in just in time to see Draco cast a spell.

I can't make out what he says, but he reveals Harry from under a invisibility cloak.

After he kicks Harry he comes out and we head for the gates. "You didn't have to kick him. Leaving him hidden would have been enough..."

"Made me feel better." Draco shrugs.

"Did it?" I look at him.

"Names." The Professor says at the gate.

"Malfoy and Diggory." I quickly respond.

"You're late." The Professor says.

"Sorry, I tripped off the train. He just cleaned me up quickly.

"Right well. Over to have your things searched." He says and waves us by.

We go over and my bags are passed but Draco is questioned for his father's cane. You try to defend him but are silenced quickly. It isn't until Snape arrives that he is allowed to have it.

Snape then leads us both to Hogwarts.

We walk in silence holding hands. I watch the ground as we walk.

Snape sudenly talks, "You two both best be on best behavior. I promised Narcissa to protect you both."

"Both?" I look up.

"Yes." He says and ends the conversation.

Draco smiles at me softly. Seems the only thing he smiles at is me any more.

At the great hall we have another award winning pep talk from Dumbledore after dinner before being sent off to dorms.

I catch up to Draco and pull him into a empty hallway and hug him tight, feeling emotions well up in me.

"Y/n... What's the matter..?" Draco asks nervously and holds me close.

"They are still mad at me for last year... they didn't even look at me. Lilly said she wants to talk... I'm just not ready... I don't want to feel alone... and then you are hiding something from me..." I whisper.

He holds me closer and kisses my forehead, "I've been tasked with something very hard... I don't want to do it but have to... and somehow someone knows about you and told him. He knows who you are and about us Y/n..."

"What...?" I look up at him.

"Your father knows... and he has a plan for you..." Draco says and places a hand in my cheek. "He has all along."

"What is it..?" I look at him unsure.

"I'll tell you in the astronomy tower tomorrow after lunch. For now, go make amends with Lilly... You need friends." Draco says soothingly.

I smile softly at him and peck his lips. His eyes go soft for the first time in a while as we part ways.

Once to my room, Lilly and Jude look at me sadly.

"Hey guys..." I softly say and look down.

"We need to talk." Lilly states. "Why did you betray us?"

"Bevause I didn't have a choice. I made a promise to Draco and couldn't leave him..." I explain.

"So you two really are serious then?" Jude asks.

"Yeah... I love him." I smile slightly, feeling kind if childish.

"Are things going to get worse..?" Lilly asks.

"Yes... and I didn't mean for anyone to get hurt last year... Umbridge had me in a tight spot..." I start.

"We know. It's ok." Jude says and hugs me. I hug back and sigh relieved. Lilly hugs me too.
