Octavia stood outside the police station and waited for Valentina to come out. She'd taken unreasonably long, considering that Octavia's interview had been before hers.
She spotted Valentina, coming out of the station, eyeing up a police officer, who winked back at her. Octavia scrunched up her toes in her Ugg boots, typical of Valentina to start flirting with the enemy.
Octavia was about to grab her arm and drag her away from the unsuspecting police officer, when she noticed something strange, Drew Hilliker handing a man a wad of notes, before running to his grey Jaguar and driving away into the frosty morning.
She felt rooted to the ground. What the fuck was that? She glanced around to try and see where the man went, but he'd disappeared instantly, almost as if no one was there at all.
"You look like you've just seen a ghost." Laughed Valentina, flicking a strand of her short, black hair behind her ear. Octavia considered for a moment. Should she tell Valentina that she saw her boyfriend handing a man money?
Octavia sighed and turned towards her friend. "I saw Drew, he was handing his man a wad of notes, and then he just ran." She said, looking at her best friend intently to see her reaction.
Valentina cackled and shook her head. "Can't have been Drew, he's not into that gangster shit, I mean, he still hugs his mum." Octavia laughed along with her, but she knew what she saw and she had a strange feeling that she couldn't quite put her finger on.
But she knew something, she knew that this was bad.
