It was dark. Everywhere, all she could see was pitch black. There was no sound, no smell, no light. Nothing.

"Um.." she trailed off. She was scared, but somehow, she knew that it was just a dream. She just hoped that see could at least feel something.

"Hello?" she tried to call out. She could hear her voice, a little deeper than usual, laced with a slight panic. No answer, as expected.

She could try to wake up from that dream, but she had always been a courageous girl. A silly nightmare about darkness wouldn't make her cry like any other girls.

She looked around again. Still nothing. The stillness was numbing her, so she decided to hum, to at least feel her throat vibrate, to hear her own voice. She walked with no direction in mind.

It felt like half an hour, until she finally decided that the dream was nothing. It was then when it happened. She could see a dot, a tiny dot of light, far in front of her. At first she only stared at it, then walked towards it, and not long, she began running. The dot became bigger and bigger, more visible, and she could see something at the end of it.

There were people, three of them. An adult and two kids around twelve years old. She tried to make out their faces, but it was to blurry to tell. She could only see the shadows, but she knew they were looking at her.

"Who are you guys?" she asked and gasped. Her voice was... lighter. She looked at herself and realized that her body had changed into that of a twelve year old. Not understanding anything, she looked at the shadows again, and saw them waving at her, one of them was mouthing something.

"Umm can you please repeat that?" she asked, not hearing what he said.

"...meet..."

"sorry, what?"

"..Let's meet..." the shadows were becoming darker, and it seemed as if they were dust being blown away by the wind

"Please speak louder!" she was desperate. She felt that she needed to know what he was saying. But it was too late. The shadows disappeared, leaving nothing behind.

.

Rin woke up with a jolt. She felt like she had just screamed at the top of her lungs, sweat dripping from her temple.

"What was that dream?" she asked herself, trying to remember something. She could remember the darkness, and the shadows... but nothing else. She looked at the clock and sighed. It was time to prepare for school.

.

When Rin was almost done doing the daily routines, she heard a knock on the door, and a voice called

"Rin, are you ready yet?" the voice belonged to her best friend, Kurenai. They had been friends since elementary school, and they lived pretty close to each other, so it had become a tradition for them to pick each other up before going to school.

"Yes, just let me check my things one more time" Rin answered. She looked into her bag and made sure she didn't forget anything. Then she looked on the mirror, stunned by the fact that she was now a high-schooler.

"It's rare for you to take long to get prepared" Kurenai commented as they walked to school

"Yeah. I had a... pretty weird dream"

"Oh?? Want to share about it?" Kurenai sounded a little too excited.

"It was just weird, really. I don't even remember much" Rin said. Kurenai pouted a little, but a smile came back to her face.
