"I think I've discovered the secret of seeing sound and hearing colors"
Kakashi raised an eyebrow at his friend, noting the disheveled look of the dark haired boy. His hair was messy, there were bags under his eyes, and he seemed to be seeing something in a distant.
"Just how much sleep did you get?"
"Eight whole minutes"
"Well, that's plenty"
Kakashi's sarcastic remark didn't help Obito's mood. He stomped to his seat, practically dragging his body. He slumped on his desk and tried to get at least a minute or two of sleep.
Tobirama Sensei—their homeroom and mathematics teacher—somehow thought it was a good idea to have a quiz in the second week of school. It would have been fine if it were a normal quiz, but he also made a rule that whoever failed would be participating in additional lessons after school for a week.
And he couldn't fail.
Not if he didn't want to run additional laps in his club activity.
Minato Sensei was a pretty laid-back coach. He pardoned late students and didn't scold them much. But he hated absenteeism. He would punish those who were absent without an urgent reason. And somehow, he always knew whenever someone made excuses.
Ten additional laps per absence. That was the rule.
And there was no way Obito would want to run 50 additional laps in the following week.
Before he could go to the dreamland, the door opened, and Tobirama Sensei went in. Obito sat straight, holding his pen tightly. He had prepared for whatever came his way.
I can do this, I can do this, Obito chanted in his mind as the papers were being passed.
I can do this. I've studied all night, he thought as he looked at the questions
I can answer this! I can! I—shit. Obito cursed in his mind.
He had mastered all the things that Tobirama Sensei had taught them last week. But he didn't think that the lessons from Junior High would come out.
Five out of ten questions. That was what he could confidently answer, and he needed to do at least two more questions to pass.
I've seen this type of question before... I definitely have... but how the heck did I solve it!??
.
"You look lifeless, Obito" Asuma commented in the changing room. Next period was their first lesson in hand-to-hand combat.
"He studied a wrong material" Genma answered with a small chuckle, amused by his friend's clumsiness.
"How should've I known that the last three years' lessons were going to appear??" Obito huffed as he banged his head on the locker. Now he could only hope that he at least got 70 points to pass.
Their hand-to-hand combat teacher was a weird guy. He wore a green jumpsuit, orange striped leg warmers, and a yellow scarf. But what stood out the most was his bowl cut hairstyle that was combed to his right, thick eyebrows and mustache.
"Isn't that... Gai's father?" Raido stared, wide-eyed. He couldn't believe this guy's fashion sense.
"Uh-huh" Kakashi nodded as he and the others circled around the man.
"GOOD MORNING MY YOUTHFUL STUDENTS!"
Everyone winced at his loud voice, slightly annoyed.
"MY NAME IS MAITO DAI, AND I'M GOING TO BE YOUR TEACHER IN THE WONDERFUL ART OF HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT!" he introduced himself proudly, posing like an actor on a theater stage.
