i tapped my nails on the surface of the freshly wiped countertop. there hasn't been a lot of customers lately, i don't get why because i personally think we have the best coffee in town. literally. we also have yummy cakes and muffins too!

yesterday barely anyone came in and so was the days before. it's probably because of another cafe that recently opened in our street who has been getting all the attention.

what do they have that we don't? i thought hard as i eye the pink painted cafe in front of me. i have to think of an idea to attract our customers again, especially because i don't want to receive a lower pay.

i frowned looking down at my worn out shoes that i've been wanting to replace for months.

my thoughts came to a stop when the bell rung, signalling a new customer.

"can i have an americano with two shots of hazelnut?"

  woah.

the brunette boy stood in front of me with a polite smile, his eyes turning into crescent moons. i couldn't help but to smile back like a complete idiot. his smile is so contagious. did he invent smiling?

"um, what's your name?" i said, trying to keep my cool. i could barely function when i'm around attractive people like him. probably because i had zero experience with cute boys.

his eyebrows rose in disbelief, making me confused.

  "j-jeno,"

nodding, i grabbed a cup and scribbled his name on it.

-

"thank you," he said with a smile and with that he walked away from the cashier, towards the door.

i watched him as he pushed the cafe door. how could he make such a regular action look like art? i kept staring as he walk out of the cafe and slowly disappearing from my sight. he looks so good he deserves background music.

dang. can all our customers look like that? he does look familiar though.

-

  "pompom!"

i was tackled to the ground by the fluffy samoyed, greeting me with sloppy licks. running my hands through his soft fur, i patted him before walking towards the
door.

walking to the kitchen, all i heard was squeals and giggles. sooah was seated on the chair of the dining table, one hand holding a spoon of rice while the other is holding her phone that was playing loud music.

"ah, are you watching ntc again?"

"unnie, it's NCT not ntc! how many times do i have to tell you?" she groaned, stuffing a spoonful of rice into her mouth.

"where's the other members? you told me there's 23 of them," i asked my eyes inches from the screen counting the people on the screen.

"they're separated into units, this is nct u," she rolled her eyes exaggeratedly.

i shrugged at her. she's always so defensive when it comes to her 'oppas'. i can't wait for this annoying fangirl phase to be over.

"have you studied yet?" omma asked her, earning a groan from her.

"you have to study or else you will end up like your sister here," omma continued, giving me the look.

"hey, i will take over the cafe one day okay!" i said defensively, crossing my arms.

omma has always been slightly against my plans of opening a cafe. she thinks it's not worthwhile and someone my age should be in college, studying in a more professional field. she wanted me to study medicine, but i was so persistent.

for now what i need is to gain experience. baby steps!

maybe i might not have enough money now, but i will prove her wrong. one day, i will have my own cafe in seoul with high quality coffee and delicious pastries. it will always busy and successful. just you wait.

we will have countless customers everyday and-

  "sooyeon, do the dishes!"
