"When I wake up, I won't be the same person you just met."
"Wait- what do you mean?" I grabbed onto his shoulders and shook him, "Nagito, wake up!" It was no use. Was he going to die? I then glanced at the heart monitor, everything perfectly normal.
"Mikan!" I slammed the door open while she almost dropped a glass bottle.
"Yes?" She turned around.
"Nagito said something pretty sketchy.." my eyes darted to the door and back at Mikan.
"What do you mean?" She put the medicine back in the cabinet.
"He said he wouldn't be the same when he woke up." I explained quickly.
"Oh no, I have to check on him!" Mikan tripped when trying to run, but got back up on her feet and opened the door to Nagito's room.
"There's nothing wrong with his heartbeat." I showed the monitor.
"He looks like he fainted and he's breathing heavily. This is bad." Mikan started to hook him up to many cords. I stayed out of the room for a while and waited for news.
"Mikan, what happened?" I asked.
"It's not good, Nagito has COPD. Also known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It means he has a infection that makes it hard for him to breath." She looked at the tile with a clipboard in hand.
"Is there a cure?" I asked.
"No.." she whispered, shaking her head. "Gundham and Sonia and now fine, but Nagito has something different." I looked at Mikan in fear.
"What can we do to help?" I stood up from the chair I originally was sitting in.
"All we can do is give him a daily dose of medication and hope for the best. But as for you, carrying him when tired instead of walking may help. We don't want him to lose energy quickly." Mikan advised me
"Will he wake up soon?" I peered through the window.
"It will depend so I can't say for sure." Mikan showed me the diagnosis and quickly checked on Gundham. Mikan told me it would be fine to enter his room now, so I did. The heart monitor was moving rapidly as Nagito's red face struggled to breathe.
I wondered if Nagito already knew about this but didn't want to worry me.
"Come on Nagito, wake up.." My hands clutched my jeans and I felt like crying, but held it in. I listened to the beeps of the heart monitor.
Beep..Beep..Beep.Beep...Beep....Beep...
Nagito then relaxed his shoulders and I sighed in relief that he wasn't struggling anymore.
"H..ha....ji..me.." I heard a weak voice call out to me.
"Nagito! Are you okay?" I rushed to his side.
"I guess.. it.. was just.. my. luck..." he sighed.
"You're gonna be okay." I grabbed his hand.
"Mm.." he looked at me with little energy.
"Mikan!" I shouted.
She stumbled as the door opened and handed some pills to me to give to Nagito.
"Here, swallow these." Nagito's mouth barely opened enough for the pills to slide inside. I watched as Nagito swallowed.
"Do you feel a little energy?" Mikan asked, observing his state.
"Yeah.." he sat up.
"You probably should get a good night's rest figuring that it's 10 at night." I suggested and Mikan agreed.
