"So you excited to move into your new place?"

"Of course I'm excited pepito!" My mom exclaims loudly before squealing. "Aren't you excited?!"

I groan at the nickname, sinking into my seat slowly as I whine. "Ugh mom! Don't call me that! It's so embarrassing."

She laughs heartily, her bright white teeth contrasting beautifully against her red lips and brown skin.

"I keep forgetting you're all grown up now aren't you?" She releases one hand off of the wheel to pinch my cheek. "Aish, my bebé, so handsome! I'm so happy you're here with me, you know that right?"

I nod, her eyes softening as she looks at me for a second.

"You should have been living with me long ago. I don't know what I was thinking leaving you with him," she mutters angrily.

"Aw, mom," I frown, watching the way she blinks sudden tears away rapidly. "Don't cry, I'm here with you now and that's all that matters."

I watch as she wipes her tears away with one hand before smiling over at me.

I return it, snorting a bit. "I'd be so much more happier though if you didn't call me pepito."

She giggles at that, head falling back momentarily before she focuses back on the empty road. "Okay, okay. I won't. Promise."

"Okay so as you know he does have two sons."

"Yeah, I met both," I say, eyeing my new home in slight amazement.

My mom grins, putting her Jeep in park. "Great! You met them at the wedding reception right?"

I give her an iffy look, waving my hand. "Eh, briefly. I said hi to the oldest, Junior right?"

She nods brightly.

"And I tried to say hi to the younger one but he kind of ignored me so..." I laugh awkwardly, scratching my nape as I remember that moment.

"So I guess we're brothers now right?" I joked, walking up towards the taller male.

He glanced at me for a second, hands in his pocket and aura dark, before scoffing and walking the other way.

I remember feeling dejected, and now embarrassed as I think of how corny I sounded. I won't lie and say that single moment didn't keep me up late at night a few times.

My mom purses her lips at that before sighing, "Yeah honestly, Elias wasn't for me marrying his dad at all so..." she lets out another breath as she opens the car door. "Hopefully he can learn to accept us eventually though."

I frown at that, wanting to ask her what his deal is but I leave it alone, not wanting to stress her out.

"Yeah... hopefully," is all I mumble before taking in my new, two story suburban home, "Wow. It's really nice."

It was insanely huge compared to the small two bedroom apartment I was used to when I previously lived with my father.

Pretty too, I find myself thinking as I take in the bluish-grey paint, granite exterior, and dark brown window sills.
