Summer's here so that means more writing for me! After part 3 of this story, I might even get to go back to my one shot book. Who knows?
Long and sad chapter
Lydia stood at the door, dumbfounded. She had know idea why, after all this time of him not calling her, leaving her in the dark about everything that went on, and abandoning her, why her boyfriend, now supposedly world famous Eddie Van Halen, was standing right in front of her. He was suddenly coming back into her life with no warning and no control, and Lydia wasn't sure that she was the least bit accepting of it.
"Can I come in?" He repeated the phrase which snapped Lydia back into reality and right into his eyes.
"Uh...um, yeah. Come in," Lydia said and right after the man walked in. I guess it's still your house too, she thought to herself.
As Eddie entered the house, Lydia slowly shut the door, careful not to make too much noise, seeming as though it would make the situation even more awkward. For a second after, she thought about locking both of the locks on the door, but denied the thought and decided to go confront the person who had hurt her so much in the past, and as it seemed so far, for no apparent reason.
When Lydia turned around she saw her boyfriend sitting on the couch, wiping his hands on his jeans and a nervous look on his face. Somehow, it calmed her nerves to think that he was just as anxious to confront the situation as she was. The only difference was that she had a lot more to say.
The girl walked over to where he was sitting on the couch and sat next to him, keeping an appropriate distance of space in between the two. She ran a hand through her and sighed, about to start the conversation. Only, Eddie was the one who started it and he didn't get right to the point.
"How have you been?"
Such a simple and normal question he asked, yet one that made Lydia's blood boil. How was she doing? Oh, quite well until Eddie had left her in the dark on tour, not calling, writing, or even bothering to check in on her once. It seemed as if he had no idea what trouble and conflict his ignorance had brought her. And Lydia wanted to make sure he knew it.
And the truth would come out sooner or later, but right now all she had replied was a simple "fine" and returned the question to him.
"Uh, I've been okay. Really busy," He replied and Lydia internally rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, I figured,"
And the silence that was all too familiar to the pair fell over the couple. Neither of the two spoke, yet they could tell that they were thinking the exact same conflict that had happened while the man was on tour. Eddie was first to speak up again, but it was this time that Lydia decided to interrupt him.
"Listen, Lyds, tour has been insane. I really wish you could have been there with us and-"
"What happened to us, Eddie?"
The question left the man in shock, who didn't reply to it for a good couple of seconds. It was not called for, Lydia could admit that, but it was what she had assumed Eddie came here to talk about. She wanted to get the subject out in the open before it had too much willpower over the two, so that's exactly what she did. And she didn't find too much harm in doing it.
"Well, what do you mean?" He finally had responded, but in an ignorant way which made the girl laugh pathetically.
"What do I mean?" She chuckled. "What I mean is that we haven't talked in a couple of weeks and I have no idea what's even going on in your life anymore. But now you decide to come here unannounced. Why's that?"
