I let out a sigh as I laid my head on the table and listened to my dad talk to Erik.

"Everything Alright Cassy?" Erik asked as he looked at me.

"No... mom won't let me watch you all train."

"She just wants to make sure you are safe." Dad said softly.

"It isn't fair! She isn't even letting me see aunt Rae Rae!" I exclaimed as I felt tears stream down my face.

"Hey no crying... here want to see something cool?" Erik asked as he grabbed a spoon.

He crushed it in his hand and made a dog.

"I can make silver animals." He said with a smile.

I laughed as he started to change the spoon into different animals and then finally he made it into a dragon.

"Like the one from your story!"

"Exactly and it's all yours." He said with a smile.

He said as he handed it to me.

"That was the expensive silverware." Dad whispered.

"Shut up."

A few days later Erik and my aunt ended up leaving and breaking their promises to me.

My mother gently tucked me in and I looked around.

"Mommy why isn't Uncle Erik and Aunt Rae Rae here?" I asked softly.

"They.... they had to leave." She said softly.

"Why?"

"They got into an argument with your father.... and they left."

"But they promised they wouldn't leave me." I said as tears welled up in my eyes.

"I'm so sorry princess." She said as she pulled me into a hug.

"I hate them.... I hate them." I said through tears.

She held me tightly and let out a sigh.

A year later my biggest fear happened. I was forced to leave the only home I had ever known.... and I was forced to leave my father.

"I don't want to go!" I yelled as tears streamed down my face.

"Cassandra we are not doing this. Get into the car." Mom ordered.

"No! I want to stay here with daddy!"

"You can't. It isn't safe for you here... not with all these freaks." She said angrily.

"Cassandra listen to your mother." A gentle voice said.

I turned to see my father wheel up to me and I felt tears stream down my face.

"I don't want to go... I wanna stay with you." I begged.

"I know... but it is better this way..... I promise I'll call you every chance I get." He said as he sent me a smile.

"No you won't.... you'll abandon me just like Erik and Raven."

"Cassandra..... I love you..... and I will always love you.... I had this made for you... it's a watch... keep it with you always." He said as he handed it to me.

He handed me a watch with an X carved on the top. I gently opened it and ran my fingers across the picture inside.

"Of all of us..... Erik and Raven love you.... but they had to leave..... I'm sorry... you won't understand it now.... but I hope one day you will." He said as he sent me a small smile.

I felt a tear stream down my face as I closed it and looked at the dragon charm beside it.... the one Erik had made for me a year earlier.

"I hate you." I whispered as I turned and ran to the car.

I slammed the door and brought my knees up to my chest as tears streamed down my face. My mom said a few more words to my father and then climbed into the driver's seat.

"I know you don't hate him..... and I know this is hard.... but it's going to be okay.... I promise." She said as she started the car.

We soon moved to a small house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. I was given the bedroom upstairs while mom took the one downstairs. My room was pretty simple, it had blue walls and the floor was wooden. My bed was a king size and had red and blue sheets.

Two years after moving into the house, my mother she met a man named Daniel Shomron and she introduced us.

"Hi you must be Cassandra, I'm Daniel." He said as he crouched down to my height.

I nodded my head and looked at the ground.

"I know you probably don't know me, but I want to be your friend." He said softly.

"Cassandra talk to him." Mom said calmly.

I shook my head no and she let out a sigh.

"I'm sorry.... she is just being stubborn."

"It's fine... look I care about your mom a lot and I want to be your friend.... I hope we can get along." He said as he sent me a smile.

I met his eyes and bit my lip as I stood up and pushed past him and ran up the stairs and slammed the door to my room. I heard a gentle knock on my door and kept my head hidden in the pillow.

"Look.... I'm not trying to take your dad's place.... your mother told me.... about how you haven't seen or even talked to him in two years..... I want to be not just apart of your mom's life but yours too.... I hope you'll give me a chance." He said before he gently shut the door.

A month later my mother and Daniel were married and he moved in with us, a year after their wedding my mother gave birth to my baby brother, David.

"Now Cassandra I want you to promise me something." Mom said softly.

I nodded my head and she sent me a smile.

"Promise you will always protect your baby brother." She said softly.

"I promise." I whispered as she let me hold him.

I smiled down at David and then looked up and saw Daniel watching us with a smile on his face.
