After handing in the evidence box, you headed to Trash Panda. The team and a few other agents were already waiting for you to have celebratory drinks for a case closed. As the night wore on, you did what you do best, put on a face for everyone and try to sort out your feelings. Peter was working the bar tonight, and you caught him gawking at you a few times. You sent a wink his way forcing a blush to his face.
Tonight, you saw Peter differently. You knew how he felt about you, yet you didn't know how you were feeling about him. Peter's the guy with a reputation of bringing home random girls and never getting serious. Why would he want to settle and get serious with you?
The guys at your table left to go play pool leaving you with Gamora and Mantis. "What's going on with you tonight?" Gamora asked, reaching over and squeezing your forearm. "You're so quiet tonight."
"Hmmm.....it's nothing." Your eyes flash to hers before taking a sip of your beer.
"You are lying," Mantis said as you shot her a hard glare. "It's my job. What's bothering you?"
"It's stupid," you answered picking at the label on the beer bottle.
"I'm good at being stupid," Mantis replied, Gamora agreed then stopped when she realized what came out of her mouth. You shake your head glancing in Peters direction seeing him talking to a group of women.
"It's about Peter, isn't it?"
Your head snapped to Gamora. "I saw the disk of you and Kraglin debriefing him, but it felt more like you were interrogating him."
"Shit, Kraglin didn't throw it away. Damn it," Gamora cursed under her breath. "I'm sorry we should've told you. We were just looking out for you." She paused tilting her head as she realized something. "That's it, isn't it." You narrowed your eyes at her. "You're freaking out because Peter's falling in love with you and you don't know what to think."
"That's ridiculous. We haven't even talked about our feelings towards each other and here you are making accusations about how I feel about him."
"I sense you care very deeply about him and he does for you too. Right now, Peter's uncomfortable with those women around him, especially since they're blocking his view of you. And you're jealous of all those women around your boyfriend," Mantis explained.
"Um...okay... but to clarify he's not my boyfriend. Sure, we've hooked up, but he can do whomever he wants whenever. Ah....I should get going. I forgot I have to do something tomorrow morning." You put on your jacket and walked past Gamora as she grabbed your arm.
"Hey, if you're afraid of getting hurt. Talk to the one guy that knows Peter best. Yondu."
You walked into the field office first thing Monday morning with a good feeling. It was the start of a new week, which meant a new case for the team. All weekend you avoided Peter hoping to get your feelings sorted out, but instead, it turned into binging every romantic comedy and thinking about anything other than your feelings. Your only focus was on the two people falling in love on the television screen. If only love was that easy to figure out?
You waved at a smiling Luis and went straight to Yondus office. You decided to take Gamora's advice and talk to Yondu. If anyone was going to tell you the truth about Peter, it was him.
You knocked, hearing him yell to come in, and stepped inside. "Hey, Yondu. Sorry to disturb you but I'm here for some advice," you said, taking a seat across from him.
"What does this pertain to?" Yondu raised his eyebrows crossing his arms across his chest.
"Personal matters."
