~my pov~

when I wake up it's like 1:20-1:25 in the morning. I hear the boys talking but don't know exactly what they're talking about. But I try not to think about that and think about the hot tub that I saw downstairs. I get up and quietly look for a towel. I honestly didn't try too hard so instead I find a piece of paper and pen. Once I found that, I wrote them a note saying that I would be back. I left it on the counter and grabbed Colby's car keys with his apartment keys attached. I walked out the door and basically ran all the way to Colby's car to grab my bag from his back seat. before I leave I make sure his door is locked then head to the hot tub. No one was there so I had the whole area to myself. I get into the hot tub, set my homework and music up outside the tub, and get to work. The song that came on was 'Drunk Me' by Mitchell Tenpenny. a country song that will forever be one of my favorites. I don't know what it is, but I love country music. It's soothing in the way it sounds. Out of the corner of my eye I see someone walking my way. "I told you not to worry about me. I was going to come back in a few." I say to him. "I know, but you also said you needed a towel." Colby said. I roll my eyes and tell him to set it next to my book bag. He obeys then sits next to me outside of the hot tub. "So how long have you been down here?" He asked. "Not long. This is the end of the first song that has played." I said. I looked at him and he looked annoyed. "So what don't you like about country?" he looks at the sky and thinks about it for a few minutes. Then says "okay I really don't have a reason. So I'll stop complaining." I laugh and continue with my homework. After about 2 minutes he broke the silence that surrounded us. "So why did you come down here?" I stop what I'm doing and sit on the opposite side of the hot tub, facing him. "I heard you and Sam talking so I was giving you guys your space to talk." He gives me an agreeing nod. I shift in my spot a little, noticing that he is looking me up and down, biting his lip. "Don't think about it Brock. Remember we only started talking two days ago and we became friends like 5 hours ago." He smiles and says "sorry beautiful, it's too late. But I will respect your wishes." I smile and ask him to get me the towel he brought. When he brings it to me I dry my hands and threw my books over by my bag. I go back to where I was sitting before and look at Colby. "Whatcha thinkin bout?" He asked with his devilish smile. "How easy do you get mad?" I asked. Before he has time to answer I splash water on him. He is now soaking wet and looks at me. First he was shocked then he smiled and answered my question. "Not too easy." he takes off his shirt and gets into the hot tub. I casually leave and walk to the pool. "Aw. I just got in." He said. "Sorry, there's more room over here." I said back and jumped into the pool. Before I came back up I hear him jump in. We both come at the same time and make eye contact. I swim to the wall and set myself on the edge. Then he swims to where he is on my right, but still in the pool. He smiles for a minute then goes serious. "Come down here." He asked. I look at him confused "why?" I ask "just trust me and come down here." I hesitated at first, but then ended up getting off the ledge. "I'm here. What's up?" he faces me and just stares at me for a minute. In that minute I noticed that he was about 2 or 3 inch taller than me. His eyes are beautiful light blue and the light from a pool really brightens them. His hair is a mess, but it looks really hot. I zone back in when he clears his throat. "What's wrong, Colby?" I asked him, now concerned. He puts his hand on my face and his thumb touches my black eye. I wince and pull away, facing at the hot tub. "What happened? I took you home and both your eyes or fine. Then I see you after first bell started and you had makeup over your eye. Then after school I found the bruise on your arm or side. I don't know where it was. What I'm getting at is, what happened when I dropped you off at home?" I don't remove my eyes from the hot tub. I don't know what to say so I just get out of the pool and go to my stuff. I hear him get out and come my way. "I just want to know that you are okay at home." He says. I spin around angry at this point. "Don't worry about me. I'm a big girl, I can deal with things on my own." I can feel the tears in my eyes. I really don't want him to see me cry again. "Haley." Is all that he is able to get out before I cut him off. "No. We just became friends and you think that means I tell you everything that happens to me when I get home. It's none of your business what goes on at my house." at this point I am yelling and trying to keep tears from flooding my face. I sit next to my bag and just break down. I'm crying, freaking out, remembering what happened the night before, just overall scared. He takes a step closer to me and I just stick out my hand to tell him to stop. He stopped and said "I'm allowed to care. I'm allowed to ask questions. I don't care if you don't want to answer. But Haley, I will care about you. I want you to be safe. I want to see you smile and enjoy life. I hate seeing you cry and be scared. I hate that you have a black eye and bruises from God knows what. But for you to tell me not to worry about it or let it go. I'm sorry but I can't." He is angry now too. I can't even look at him. But I say "I'm gonna go." I pack up my things and get up to go. "Where?" He asked. I gave him the one answer he didn't want to hear. "Don't worry bout it." I walked to him, hand him his keys, and walk away.
