I get dressed in the outfit I fashioned the day before. Looking in the mirror, I sighed. Today I was supposed to meet Loki and have my first session with him.
"You ready?" Thor peered his head through the door.
I peak my head out of the bathroom. "Almost." I say, brush in my hand. I finish brushing my hair and walk into the hallway, where Thor is waiting.
We head to the prison where Loki is being held. I start to meddle with my hands. Thor noticed and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Are you okay, Kaitlyn? You seem nervous." I look down at my hands and notice that I'm now aggressively intertwining my fingers.
I stop and reply to Thor. "Yeah, I'm just worried. I mean, from what you've said, I'm going in to have a therapy session with a murderer." Thor stopped walking and I turned to face him.
"Don't worry, he won't harm you. I'll make sure of it." We continue walking down the long hallway to the prison. Once we get there we are greeted by about 20 guards. Thor waves at them and they let us pass. We walk along a long pathway, filled with countless other prisoners.
One of the prisoners bangs on the electric field keeping him in. At this I jump a little. Thor looked at me and slightly chuckled. I shook it off.
Thor brought me back to the entrance of Loki's cell. The door to his cell opened, and Thor walked in with me behind him. As I walk in, I noticed that his cell is nicely furnished, compared to the other ones, which had no furniture. It must have been Frigga.
The door closes shut behind us and I walk further in. I notice a man lying down on a twin sized bed, throwing a ball into the air repeatedly. He wasn't buff like I had previously thought. He was a decent build, just not like his brother. He had shoulder length black hair, and was wearing a green outfit. It was Loki.
"Nice to see you still care, brother." He says, not taking his eyes off the object in his hand. "But this..." He sits up and points to me. "...Is new." I slightly shutter as he acknowledges my presence.
"I'm not a this." I say trying to sound less afraid than I really was. "I'm a she." He gets up and slowly walks towards me. He was so close I could feel his breath on my face.
"And who do you think you are?" He says. He's about 5 inches taller than me, so I have to look up at him as he says this.
Thor immediately places his hand on Loki's chest and shoves him away from me. I let out the breath that I had been holding in. "This is Kaitlyn. She is going to be your therapist." Thor says to him. "Play nice. I will be watching." Thor says as he walks towards the exit.
"He walks up to me and whispers in my ear. "I will be right there if anything goes wrong." I gulp at the word wrong. Thor notices my uneasiness, and revises his statement. "Which it won't." He gives me a thumbs up and a smile before walking out the door.
I'm left alone in the cell with Loki. After about a minute of Loki staring at me up and down, he starts to walk towards me again. "So, you're going to be my therapist." He backs me into a corner, and I hit the wall. He puts both his arms on the wall behind me, as if to trap me.
"You must be from earth. You certainly don't look like you're Asgardian." He tilts his head slightly to the side.
"I'm Jane's sister." I say firmly, ducking under one of his arms. Before I have the chance to escape, he grabs my arm and pulls me closer to him.
"Well, at least they sent me someone who wasn't completely ugly." He released my arm. Was that a compliment?
I move over to sit in the chair facing his bed. "First of all, we are going to establish some rules."
He sits on the bed across me. "I don't do rules. I'm made to break them." He says while leaning back against the wall behind his bed.
"You're really not in the position to say that, considering you're the one in the cell, and I can leave at any time. And if you want me to help you get out of here eventually, you're going to have to start following my rules." I say quite aggressively, enjoying my newfound confidence.
His eyes widen at my bluntness. "Okay. So what do you have in mind. He grins and leans in, folding his hands on his lap.
"First of all, no more aggression." I say, thinking back to when he previously cornered me.
"Why, are you scared of me?" He looks at me, ready to analyze my answer.
"To be honest, yes. But to be fair, I just learned that aliens existed about one day ago. Then I got dragged down here to be a therapist for a maniac."
He just looks at me, staring in my eyes. For a moment, I felt a soft side of him as he said, "Is that what you think I am?" I swear he looked innocent and scared. Like a little boy, just wanting to be loved. It's a faint moment, that goes just as fast as it came.
"No." I answer. "You could be so much more." With that, I got up and headed out the door.
"That's all?" He asks me as he stands up and follows me.
"Don't worry, I'll be back tomorrow." I say slightly taunting him. The door shuts between us.
Once it completely shuts, and he can't see me anymore, I let out a sigh of relief. One step forward.
