15 years before

a woman in her thirties stopped her feet from walking and let her hand roamed in her leather purse to search for the ringing phone as her other hand held tightly onto her son's.  bringing the phone next to her ear, she heard a shaky voice on the other line.

"m-mrs. lee, i-i just heard a-a gun being s-shot from your h-house."

her breath hitched as she ended the call. she started to run toward where she parked her car,  dragging her son as if he was some kind of a toy.

"m-mommy what's wrong?" he asked as soon as he was shoved at the passenger seat, looking at his mother buckling their safety belts.

"i-it's nothing minhyung-ah. let mommy drives first, okay?" she took a sharp turn to her left that would lead them to their house. her knuckles turned white from gripping the steering tensely.

minhyung's eyes glazed with tears. her mother lied. something was wrong and he could only pray that everything was right.

especially his father.

they arrived at their house, watching the front door opened widely.

"minhyung, you stay here okay? don't go anywhere," she placed a soft kiss on her son's forehead before leaving the choked up boy.

his eyes observed his mother went inside the house. but being the curious boy he was, he jumped off the car and tip toed to peek inside the house, hiding behind the big flower vase that was placed near the entrance.

what he saw made his breath caught up in his throat. the sickening image was too much for a little boy like him.

his father's best friend was holding a gun in his trembling hand, his mother was bawling her eyes out and the worst of all, his father was laying lifelessly on the carpeted floor with blood gushing out from his chest.

"i-i didn't do this sooyeon, p-please believe me! i would never do this to him!" the man in his early forties begged, also crying.

"what kind of a best friend are you?! he trusted you! why did you choose to kill him?! why?!"

minhyung had tears streamed down his cheeks as he went next to his mother.

"d-daddy wake up.."

it was useless. his face already drained out of color.

the police sirens rang around the neighborhood. police men broke through the house and seized the one with the gun.

"no! it's not me who killed him! please!" he struggled to break free then met eyes with minhyung, "minhyung-ah, uncle would never do this, you believe me right?" he sounded weak by now as the officer cuffed his hand behind his back, forcing him to walk out of the house.

minhyung stood silently with his mother hugging his petite body, sobbing and drenching the boy's shirt. the officer brought the man inside the car as the dead body was brought inside the ambulance. minhyung's gaze was boring into the cuffed man's soul. he wanted to remember that face until he died. the face of a murderer. a murderer of his father.

and starting from that day, minhyung had swore in his heart that he would take a revenge upon his dead father.
