I stop driving when I reach the edge of a mountainside cliff. I park my car with the roof actually being used under the cover of some trees. I walk to the very edge and look out at the vast beauty of the land in front of me. In the distance I can see my town and all the streetlights starting to turn on due to the sun setting.

The sunset is gorgeous, vibrant warm reds and oranges swirl around the sun as they are pushed away by the sweet cool dark purples and blues of the night sky. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, breathing in the clean mountain air. The smells of woodland creatures and wildflowers fill my senses beckoning me to open my eyes. I lower myself down so that I can sit on the edge of the cliff with my feet hanging off the side. I sit there watching the sunset. I wait until its vibrant colors have been completely replaced by the darkness of the night and the first hundred stars have come into view. To any normal human being they would need a flashlight to be able to see but thanks to my lovely Angelic Reaper night vision I can see just as clearly as I do during the day. I lift myself up off the ground and walk back to my car to grab the duffel bag of supplies I always have in the trunk. I sling the duffel bag over my head and secure it to my body and then as soon as my car is locked I run and jump off the edge where I had just been sitting peacefully for the past 30 minutes.

As I feel the wind rushing around my body I close my eyes enjoying the rush of adrenaline. After a minute I spread my silver colored wings that I normally have hidden and allow them to catch the air and stop my falling. My wingspan is 10 ft across and they are at least 6ft tall. So when I stand and I do have them shown they tower over my head by a foot but don't drag on the ground either. They are pretty close to the renditions of the angels from The Bible. Long, majestic and made of soft yet extremely strong feathers. As I float gently my wings glow in the moonlight, when I say silver I mean they are the true metallic glittering silver that glitters and shines when light is touching it. I watch the cliff side of the mountain searching for the opening of the stone cave that Andy and I discovered years ago. When I spot it I redirect my wings and fly over to the opening. After landing I fold my wings back together behind my back but don't bother with making them transparent.

The cave is a decent sized area, basically the size of an 850 square foot studio apartment. Andy and I called it our Home Away from Home. It took a lot of work but we eventually brought in a queen sized bed set, two lounge chairs, a small dining table set and a small homemade kitchen island. We couldn't set up electricity so we just bought a bunch of Tiki torches and set them up around the cave. We didn't really need them but they are cool. We had the chairs placed by a fire ring so we could sit by the fire while watching the outside world from the cave mouth. Before I start cleaning I start a fire out of the small stack of kindling and old newspapers I have in my duffel bag. With the fire light dancing on the walls I walk around to all the Tiki torches and light them.

Smiling to myself I plop down on the foot of the bed and look around the cave. It starts to dawn on me just how clean the cave is and I haven't even started picking things up. I personally haven't stepped foot into the cave for almost 10 months but even when Andy and I would be away for a week when we came back the cave was always messy and had blown in dirt, leaves and pine needles everywhere. So being gone for 10 months I was expecting to see at least 5 inches on dirt on the ground mixed with a little bit of everything. Instead the cave looked like it had been occupied the day before, the floor looked nicely swept up and the furniture was pine needle free. Hope was telling me it was Andy because as far as I knew he and I were the only primitive beings that were aware of its existence. Logic was telling me though that someone must've found the cave and decided to visit. Exhausted from the day on the emotional roller coaster I change out my clothes to a pair of flannel pajamas from my duffel bag and gently lay my weapons on top of my clothes I was wearing.
