I wake up the next day with a throbbing headache. Ugh, why did I allow myself to do this? I ask myself mentally. I groan as I sit up trying to ignore the brightness of the sun seeping in from under my curtains. I stumble my way to my bathroom and fumble through the medicine cabinet until I can find the painkillers. When satisfied with the choice I take the recommended amount and slowly climb into a warm shower.

After my shower I walk back to my room with my towel wrapped around myself. I dry off and get dressed. I look over at my mirror and groan at my reflection. My scars from the demonic reaper glaring out at me. I sigh and grab my foundation to cover them up yet again. There are only four little circles now that are slightly discolored from the rest of my skin but every morning they seem to be glowing with red. I sit there staring at myself in the mirror and release the transparency charm from my wings. I unfold them to the best of my ability in my small bedroom.

"I haven't seen those in a while." I whip my head around to look at my dad. He is smiling at me as he slowly walks into my room. "One can forget just how silver they are. Just like your mothers." I smile sadly at him and look back into the mirror.

"How long has it been since you've seen them?" I ask him quietly.

"Almost a full year now." He gently runs a hand along my right wing. "You look more and more like her every day."

"I miss her a lot." I lean back in my chair sighing.

"I miss her too, I still have a hard time comprehending that after centuries of wars and near death experiences it was a drunk driver who killed her."

"Some people." I close my eyes trying to remember her again. Her raven hair and crystal blue eyes. The way her smile glowed just as much as her wings.

"So how mad is Michael?" Dad looks at me from behind my wing.

"From what I can remember?" I laugh. "He is livid that you supported it and drank with me. However I think he will get over it. At least he'd better you are the adult in this situation."

"I agree." Dad laughs and turns to walk out of my room. "If you would like some breakfast, I will cook you something to help with the headache." I start to brush my hair as I thank him and tell him that I will be out in a few minutes. When I reach the kitchen dad is finishing up a small omelet. I sit at the island and glance at my phone checking for any new notifications. A plate is slid into my view and I see the omelet dad was making and a couple pieces of toast as a side.

"Thanks daddy." I smile up at him and set my phone face down on the island next to me. I grab the fork that dad is handing to me and immediately start cutting off a piece of the omelet.

"What would you like to drink? We have apple juice, orange juice, coffee, tea, milk, and of course water." I swallow the bite I had just taken and agree to a glass of apple juice. Taking another bite Dad places my drink next to my plate then starts making another omelet for himself. I wash down my next bite as I finish my omelet just as my phone chimes with a notification. I set down my drink and grab my phone to check it.

"Oh shoot." I stand quickly and start grabbing my pieces of toast while shoving my phone into my pocket. Dad turns around quickly in shock.

"What?" He looks at me in concern as I down my apple juice and hastily throw my dishes in the sink.

"I forgot I have a class this morning." I kiss his cheek and run out of the kitchen towards my room to grab my bag and keys. "Thanks for breakfast daddy!" I shout out to him as I run past the kitchen doorway on my way to the front door, bag and keys in one hand and my pieces of toast in the other. As I am closing the door I can hear him call out to have a good day. I jump into my car and start it then as soon as I have my seat belt on I am engaging into drive and speeding away towards my college. I am retaking this whole semester since I kind of failed the last semester from not showing up at all.
