Emma’s POV
Sadly my Friday nights weren’t like most teens, I didn’t get to hang around with my friends, and I had to work. Matt got this Friday off, which was rare as he was working as long as he possibly could, so we had money, but one Friday a month he didn’t work.
Luckily Jeremy had a shift this evening, and even if I was working behind the bar, and he was waiting tables, we could still talk for a while. There was also the possibility that some off my friends could come in for food, but I highly doubted it.
To be honest they weren’t my friends, they were Matt’s friends, but they spoke to me if they had to, and they were kind of nice to me.
Serving drinks to the usual alcoholics of the town, wasn’t fun, there were only two types of people who came and sat at the bar here in Mystic Falls. Either drunkards that rarely left the bar, or vampires, just surprisingly today only one vampire came to sit there.
“Hello Kol,” I smiled wiping a glass and placing it under the bar.
“Well hello Emma,” He smirked.
I rolled my eyes as he ordered his drink. I gave the glass to him, putting the cloth that rested on my shoulder onto the bar, to clean it.
“So your brother actually let you off of your leash?” he chuckled.
“Matt wants to protect me from vampires, I am too vulnerable to take care of myself,” I said rolling my eyes.
I wasn’t vulnerable; I was a lot stronger emotionally and physically than Matt could have ever believed.
“I highly doubt that is true, I’m sure if you needed to you’d put up a fight,” He smirked.
“Why do I need to fight? I don’t make enemies, everyone likes me or at least has no reason to hate me,” I smiled.
No matter what, I did my best to befriend people. I wanted to be friends with everyone I could, but obviously it was impossible to have everyone be my friend. Just I could make sure they weren’t my enemies, I just had to be nice to people whether I personally liked them or not.
“Someone’s confident about herself,” He chuckled.
“Of course, I shouldn’t have doubt in something that is clearly true,” I shrugged.
“I like that about you Emma, you are very confident, and you aren’t swayed by anything. You are one remarkable girl,” He smiled softly.
It was rather odd, all of his features softened with the small smile taking the place of the smirk that generally stayed on his face.
“Aw, Mr Mikaelson, how sweet, is that how you make all the girls swoon?” I chuckled.
“Well Miss Donavon, I do not generally need to make girls swoon, my presence generally does that naturally, but you are different,” I stated as his signature smirk appeared once again on his face.
“Is this the point at which you ask me on a date? Then lil ol me somehow falls in love with you, and I change your player ways as obviously love conquers all,” I said rolling my eyes.
The smirk on his face grew as he leaned closer to me over the bar.
“Would you like to go out with me on Sunday?” He smirked.
“Sorry, I’ve got training,” I shrugged.
I was planning to make up a lie to tell him, as to why I couldn’t go on a date with him, but I was actually busy so I didn’t have to lie. Kol seemed nice enough but Matt would murder me, and I liked someone else a lot more than Kol.
“What? What training?” He frowned.
“I’m a swimmer and I dabble in diving, but I need to train as I have a competition soon, and I don’t like to lose, not even for a pretty face,” I shrugged.
Quickly I handed one of the other customers their regular drinks before going back to Kol who was still smirking.
“How about I go with you?”
I frowned softly. I didn’t really want him to go with me; I wasn’t too impressed in having to take Jeremy with me, so I wasn’t too happy in taking Kol.
“I’m not too sure,” I frowned.
“Come on Emma, we can get to know one another,” He smiled innocently, “whilst you’re in a bikini,” he said under his breath.
I glared at him, “Fine you can come with me, and I am taking a wetsuit, pervert.”
Sadly I destroyed my wet suit, so a bikini or swimsuit was all I had. Just the only swimsuit I owned was for competitions and I could risk destroying it before the competition, so a bikini was all I had.
“Well I’ll pick you up on Sunday,” He smirked before standing up and leaving the grill.
It did worry me that he must know where I lived seen as he didn’t ask me for my address, so I had no idea how he knew that. Did I now have a stalker?
Soon after Kol left someone took over my place at the bar so I had to wait tables with Jeremy. Before I could even get to my first table Jeremy came over to me resting his hand on my fore arm.
“Please don’t go on Sunday, Kol is bad news,” He said sounding sincere.
“I’ll be okay Jer, if Klaus hasn’t killed me yet, then I’m sure Kol won’t,” I chuckled smiling at him softly.
“I just don’t want to see you get hurt Emma,” He smiled softly, “I want to make sure you’re safe.”
I could help the light crimson colour creeping on my cheeks. I bit down on my lower lip as I smiled softly.
“That’s so sweet,” I smiled leaning up to kiss his cheek.
As I leaned away from him, I could see his cheeks had become red as he blushed. I chuckled.
I had a huge crush on Jeremy for a long while, but he didn’t like me like that, so having him as my best friend was the best I had. He never acted like he actually liked me, and I was sure he saw me as a more of a sister or a friend that girlfriend material.
“You’re my best friend, who else would I talk to?” he stated with a wonky smile as he ran a hand through his hair.
“Yeah,” I chuckled shakily.
