Emma’s POV

“Emma, you’re being stupid, why are you going with him?” Matt hissed refusing to let me out of the front door.

“I’ll be fine Matty, I’m going swimming, I’ll just drown him if he tries any funny business,” I smirked slinging my bag over my shoulder.

“Please don’t go with him,” He frowned.

“I’ll be fine Matt,” I shrugged.

I grabbed his should digging my finger into his pressure point causing him to lower his guard, so I could get out of the house. I shouted my goodbye to Matt before running to Kol’s car which he was continuously bibbing the horn of his car.

“Good morning Emma,” Kol smiled.

“Morning,” I smiled in return.

I gave him directions to the quarry, which he had no idea existed. Not many people did know it existed so it was a good place to swim in, seen as it was never busy and no one was ever there so it was great. There was an actual swimming pool just out of town, but it was always so busy, but out here it was safe and empty so it was more fun.

Finally we got to the quarry. I think it was a vampire thing, they were just reckless drivers, I had been in the car with multiple vampires driving and every one of them I feared for my life whilst they drove- that was the only danger any had ever put me in.

When we parked, I led the way to the waterfall. As soon as we got there I turned to Kol who looked rather confused about where we were.

“Any your brother lets you come here alone?” He frowned.

“Yeah, I’ve come here a lot; no one knows this place exists so I get the whole place to myself. If I want to train for competitions I need my own space to practice,” I shrugged.

“Well Donavon, you’re going to have to put up with me today, I’ve never tried diving, so you’ll have to teach me,” he smirked.

“Well Mikaelson, this’ll be fun,” I smirked in return.

With that I took off my shoes and pulled off my hoodie and tracksuit bottoms, leaving me in my bikini. His face quickly became puzzled. Did I honestly look that bad in a bikini?

“Is that a birth mark on your side?” He asked.

I looked down to my lower side to see the light brown crescent moon. I’d had it for as long as I could remember, it was kind of weird, most people have birth marks that were just blobs, but mine was a perfect crescent moon.

“Yeah, I know it’s a little weird,” I shrugged.

“I knew some quite a while ago with an identical birthmark in the same place, it’s a peculiar coincidence,” he said in a monotonous tone.

“That’s kind of creepy. Anyway do you want to learn how to dive or are you going to just stare at my birthmark all day?” I questioned.

 “Sure.”

He pulled of his top revealing his chest. I gritted my teeth, I couldn’t deny that he was extremely attractive, but I didn’t want him to know that I thought that. It was clear that his ego was too inflated already, and I didn’t want to increase it anymore.

Once he was just down to his shorts we walked up the hill to the top of the waterfall. I explained how to dive before I did it.  Once I resurfaced in the water I called up to him to jump. He did so, ungracefully but he didn’t murder himself which was good.

“Could have been better but you did okay for a beginner,” I smirked.

“Well I didn’t die, so that was a bonus,” he chuckled.

“You’re an original vampire there isn’t any white oak wood sprawled at the bottom of the quarry. I’ve already made it clear I don’t want you dead, I want to be friends with you, you’ve never wronged me so I shall never wrong you,” I shrugged.

He let out a soft laugh as we began to swim around the quarry for a little while. It was surprisingly fun, even though I wasn’t really practising, but it had been a long time since I had just swum for fun rather than training.

It was kind of fun actually relaxing. With Matt trying to make me do everything perfectly and having to just work, train and go to school it was rare to just have fun unless I was with Jeremy and the rare occasion if I could escape and talk to Elijah.

“Well that’s good to hear, as now would be the perfect time to murder you. I can breathe under water, and you can’t,” he smirked.

“But you don’t want me dead Kol. Your brother would kill you if my brother didn’t get there first. Also I’m nice to you, how many humans do you get to swim with you and teach you how to dive?” I chuckled.

“True. You are an amazing girl Emma, most people, even most vampires wouldn’t want to talk to me let alone come swimming with me. It’s fun getting out of Nik’s control and just relax, I haven’t actually been swimming since long before you were born, actually long before more of your ancestors were born,” he smiled.

Sometimes I forgot about him being a vampire, unlike Matt I saw him and his siblings as normal people like me. It wasn’t like they were always acting like they were vampires; they just seemed like anyone else. There wasn’t anything about them that made them seem non-human minus their diet and if they took of their rings they’d burn in the sun.

“All I do is train, I used to love swimming so I realised I was really good and started competing, I don’t really get to enjoy my time swimming a lot, just practicing. I love to swim but it’s nice to just swim around and have fun,” I chuckled.

We continued to swim around the quarry for a while, before we practiced diving for a little more, as he desperately needed practice. I think we spent more time there than I would usually if I was here on my own or with Jeremy or Matt. Neither of them joined in, so I’d just spend a couple of hours swimming before going home, but we just got to know one another better and swam around for a while.
