You were currently working in a small restaurant in the city, a pancake themed restaurant that is. It was surprisingly popular, people came in every day whether it was for breakfast, lunch or even dinner. The customers really seemed to like the idea of pancakes all day.

Most of the time it was families with children, sometimes high school kids or college students would come in with homework to do while they ate. It was an overall enjoyable place.

You loved working there as well, which was a plus. The manager was always kind, and the other staff looked up to you. Of course they did, you had created the special off-menu item, it was a real sell.

The meal in particular was a tall stack of waffles, coating in maple syrup with some whipped cream, a scoop of ice-cream and a few berries. It looked pleasing and tasted amazing, although you tried not to boast.

One particular night, you were getting ready to clean up the tables, there was only one family left eating their delicious pancakes. The rest of the staff had finished for the night, and you were waiting for this family to finish so you could go home.

While you cleaned the floors, you wondered if there could be any other delicious dishes to discover. The sudden thought of flavoured waffles came to mind, chocolate waffles! Imagine that! The ding of a bell made you raise your gaze, seeing a solo figure walk into the restaurant.

The person stood slightly hunched, their clothes were filthy; covered in mud and such. They seemed to shake, twitch even as they took in the largely decorated room, a pair of orange goggles covered their eyes. As did a dirty brown mask and a blue hood attached to an orangey-brown jumper.

A ticking sound filled your ears as the person spotted you and walked over. You took in their build and, deciding they were male, stood and smiled up at the orange goggles. You'd dealt with weirdos before, this twitching guy would be no different.

"Hi, how can I help you?" You asked, tilting your head.

The guy looked around again, turning his head to the hanging menus over the counter.

"W-W-Waffles..." The boy stuttered.

You nodded, "Would you like the normal 3 stack?"

"S-Spec-cialll.... Wa-aff-ffffles..." He muttered.

Your smile widened and you nodded, writing down the order and handing him a number,

"I'll bring it out when it's ready, please have a seat."

The man took the number from you, before looking at you again, "H-How mu-uch?"

"You'll pay once you're done." You stated, before taking the order out to the kitchen.

Once you had grabbed the ingredients, you started mixing the batter and cooking the waffles. You watched from the kitchen window as the last family finished their meal, looking around for a waitress or someone to pay for their food.

You quickly put the cooking down and walked out to help them, taking their pay and giving them their receipt. Once the family left, you turned the open sign to 'closed', before wiping the table down.

Then you remembered the guy with the special waffle order. You raised your gaze, trying to find him, if his goggles hadn't glinted off the light, you wouldn't have seen him in the far corner, seeming to watch you.

You offered a smile, before returning to the kitchen. Just in time, the waffles were done. Dishing them out carefully, you drizzled them in maple syrup and covered them in everything else, before taking it out to the guy.

He clapped his hands as you placed the plate on the table, his head twitched to the side in excitement.

"Enjoy." You bowed your head, before disappearing into the kitchen, cleaning up any messes from the day. It was silent as you worked, and you wondered if the guy was even eating. A small glimpse through the kitchen window made you gasp.
