A/N: AHHHHH I JUST REALISED THE DR. SMILEY CHAPTER DIDN'T HAVE A TITLE I'M SO SORRY IT'S BEEN FIXED NOW

There was... Something in your life that just felt like it was missing.

You had everything you could need, a nice house, a really good job, friends, your pet cat, there was nothing else you could have possibly needed. But here you were, sitting by yourself in your living room, staring at the television while the news played. You were like a zombie, having nothing to do, no one to talk to while you sat her.

You were alone.

Your friends had all made comments about you finding a partner, but you had continuously shut them down. Every guy you tried to date turned out to be a jackass, a cheat, or just a waste of time. None of them ever felt right for you, so you just gave up. You had your beautiful cat to keep you company anyway. Her grey fur was soft and cuddly, and she'd only stare at you judgingly on occasion. She always listened though.

"I just... Don't know what to do about this..." You mumbled, the cat had curled onto your chest as you laid on the couch; you were patting her back slowly, "I'm so lonely and bored... You're the only one I can talk to about this, you know?"

She started purring and you chuckled, "You're right, it's not so bad. I might go for a walk this evening actually, mum said exercise might make me feel better."

The cat was indifferent to your plans.

You smiled more, glancing back towards the TV, a news report about a murder was on the screen.

"... was found missing both his kidneys. No one knows what happened, or how. And no one knows who is at fault. All we can assume right now, is that it was for the black market." The news reporter said, eyes boring through the camera and right at you.

You shivered, wondering what it would be like to be murdered for your organs. It sounded scary, like being a farm animal raised for slaughter. You shook your head, reaching for the remote to change the channel. But it was out of your grasp. You frowned to yourself, there was no way you were going to move with your cat on you. But then the sound from the TV caught your attention.

"... showers later on in the night. It would be best if everyone stay inside wouldn't it be?" The weatherman chuckled, he was holding a puppy from some mushy story, the dog's tail wagging and it yapped. Your cat jumped, looking around and climbing off you. You let out a sigh, before sitting up and grabbing the remote.

"Guess I'll go for my walk now then huh?" You chuckled, before going to get ready.

Once you had your sneakers on and your (h/c) hair up, you were ready to go. Taking a bottle of water with you, and your phone and keys, you walked outside, locked the house, and started off down the street.

It was already quiet out; most people were hiding in doors from the very late rains. You smiled to yourself, feeling a cool breeze in your face as you looked around the neighbourhood. Hey, this isn't so bad. It's nice around this time actually, the sun was hiding behind the other houses, so it wasn't burning you, and everyone was either inside or on their way home from work. It just felt so... Peaceful.

You walked into the city, living not far from it, taking in the beautiful lights from the buildings around you. People were sitting in restaurants, lined up for clubs, running to the shops just before they closed. The city was a lot more busy and louder than the suburbs. A lot more could happen, but at the same time, a lot more witnesses would be present.

However, that didn't stop everyone from doing something evil, you knew this, but the possibility of something like that happening in front of you, even happening TO you, were low. You felt safe in the city, counting on others to be your shield in the streets, knowing that people wouldn't dare try anything on you for fear of being caught red handed. A smile spread over your lips as you walked past a candy store. A girl holding a box of candies walked out, staring into the box as if it were her lover, or her saviour.
