Okay.. so I'm gonna be pretty honest here. It's been a while since I was a guy. After an entire year of getting used to being female, I think I might have really sank in and become very.. well.. er.. female.
I liked to wear skirts. I had my own favorite brand of lipstick to use on occasion (despite not being a total makeup person). I loved to go shopping with my sister, and I was starting to warm up to the color pink..
I mean you don't have to be a girl to like any of this stuff.. and a girl isn't always gonna love the stereotypical crap.. I knew a girl from my class in my old world who loved to skateboard, hang out with the guys, drink copious amounts of mountain dew, dirt bike and pound the living crap out of jerks who tried to bully me.. one of my old childhood friends. A childhood friend who, by the way, disappeared and I never heard from again.. but still... point made.
In any case, I had delved deep into the world of a stereotypical woman, and because of this I had immersed in it.. and the result was sort of like a language student studying abroad.
When Catherine went to study chinese in Taiwan for 3 weeks, and she came back she received a bit of Reverse Culture Shock. Some American customs which were abnormal in Taiwan became abnormal for her, and at some points, she spoke english with a Chinese accent by accident. It was maddening for her.
So in the same way, you can consider my attempting to pretend to be a guy a form of Reverse Culture Shock for me too. I had become so used to being a girl, that I kind of forgot how to be a guy.
Take my walking for example.
The few hours before my trip to Lindsey's house, Triss was berating me for this.
"Men don't sway their hips typically when they walk.. I mean your sway is a little less noticeable than most women.. perhaps because of your history.." said Triss as she steadied my waist with both hands. "But remember, subconscious cues are also a key factor in maintaining an undercover role, you don't want to give the enemy a subconscious gut feeling that something isn't right. "
"You know about my... past?" I said carefully.
Triss smiled at me, a rare thing given her strict demeanor. "Honestly, I hope you can forgive Vel, she told me last night over the jail's phone.. she felt it wasn't good to keep secrets where you were concerned. Don't worry, our father won't know a thing... you, don't mind do you?"
"No.. mainly I keep the secret cause I'm worried what other people will think.." I muttered.
"You didn't become female on purpose, we're not going to think you're a pervert or something JUST because you used to be a male.." said Triss.
"Welp.. there you have it.. the difference between anime and real life.." I muttered.
"And you might want to take off that lipstick.. and blush.." said Triss as she began moving the hair wand over my head to shorten my hair again.
"Oh.." I groaned. Vel had gotten me into the habit of putting on makeup during prestigious occasions whenever we went out with the board of directors of the Academy. Select students were usually chosen to attend their cocktail parties, and me, Eugene, Vel, and Medi were always the ones selected.
Otherwise, I wouldn't bother... but habits were hard to break.
As I washed my face, Triss wrapped some bandages tightly around my bare chest, flattening my breasts, before she pulled out a suit and tie.
"This was my brother's, his sense of style has changed since his last dance.." said Triss. "He's a small guy, so it should fit you. "
"Aren't your brothers and mother arriving tonight?" I asked.
