I woke up in the early hours of dawn to the sounds of rattling cans and infected groaning. I saw three. More than anything I want to roll over and go back to sleep, but you can't afford such luxuries anymore. Not since this happened. I sigh and grab my crossbow, which was right next to me. Then I stand, aim, and let my arrows fly.

After I disposed of the infected, I began to pack my bag. If three made their way to my camp, then who knows how many more might? Before taking down the cans, I change into a new purple shirt that reads 'HOLY SHIT' and some old bloodstained jeans. I start to take down the cans, but at the last minute, end up leaving them. Someone else would probably need them more than I did now. Taking one last look around, I grab my bag and crossbow. Its a relatively light load. All that is left in bag is a change of clothes and a pack of crackers that I'll probably never eat. I also keep an extra knife in my left boot. This is all I've really had since the world went to hell two years ago. I've been all alone for eight months. Before that I had my sister; Lacey, but she passed... The sudden sound of twigs breaking distracts me from my thoughts. I quickly load my crossbow, hoping that the sound is dinner. I hear it again. Snap! Then a voice.

"Damn, if I would have known ye were so loud, I wouldn't have brought ye." Definitely a man. Probably my age, maybe older.

"Sorry, sorry..." Another one? Shit. Snap! The men were coming closer, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to be found yet. So, I did the only thing I could think of. I ran.

I could tell that the two men were following closely behind me.

"Let's just leave 'em. It's not worth it."

Those word bring back bad memories. A tear slid down my cheek, and I almost stop to wipe it away, but I can't. Just in case the men were like Him.

"Yeah, but what if he's one of the Governor's?" The second one asked. One of the Governor's... Holy shit I know that name. I froze in my tracks. If these men weren't with the Governor, then they might be safe... And anyway, I'm tired from running. I slowly sunk to the ground and decided to wait.
