Daryl slowly opens the door. When my eyes adjust, its clear that there are no infected, but there is a young women with short gray hair. She raises her head.
"Daryl?" She asks in a weak voice.
"Lets get you home." Daryl says kindly. I notice that he doesn't automatically ask about bites, unlike Rick.
He turns to me. "We gotta get 'er to Herschel."
I nod, "Lets go."
We navigate easily through the halls and it isn't long before the three of us reach the rest of the group.
As soon as they see the three of us, we are immediately swarmed. I quickly slip away from everyone and go outside. I haven't been back out since this morning; when they found me. I already miss it. I settle down on the soft grass and prepare to relax.
Until someone says, "Hey there sugar tits. Don't believe that we've met yet." I turn to see a tall man with only one arm. Must be Merle.
"No. I don't think we have. My name is Delilah." I seem to have said that so much today. How annoying.
"Merle." He says, "Whatcha doing out here alone?"
"Just thinking."
"Good for you. Most people these day do not do that anymore. Myself included." He jokes. I offer him a small smile.
"Can I walk you back?" He asks.
"Sure. And then may you lead me to Cameron? I really need to talk to her"
"Alrighty then. Lets get a move on, girly." He says. I stand up too, and have to speed walk just to stay caught up with him.
"So, uh, do you know where Cameron is?"
"Yeah. Should be in her cell. Just talked to her. Thanking her for the cookies, you know? They were really good, by the way." He says.
"Thanks, it was mostly Cameron that made them, though." He nods. By this time, we are nearly inside. He opens a door for me, and I step inside.
"Thank you." I tell him, and he grunts, which I take as a good sign. The door swings shut behind us, making a loud creeeak.
"I know a short cut, up to the cells." He says, leading me down a long hallway. Then we go up a flight of stairs, and in practically no time at all, the two of us are standing outside of Cameron and Beth's cell.
Cameron is sitting on the bottom bunk, looking through a book.
"Hey Cameron!" I say, and then walk over to her, leaving Merle in the doorway.
Leaning toward her, I say, "Good luck with that one." as quietly as I can. Cameron grins at me. I wink back at her as I walk out of her cell, leaving the two of them to talk.
*************************************
I walk around until I finally find Herschel sitting with Carol.
"Hi." I say to Herschel. Then I turn to Carol. "How are you doing?"
"I'm doing okay. You are Delilah, right?" She asks me, and I nod.
"Thank you for helping look for me. It means a lot."
"Hey, we're a group. We look out for each other." I tell her.
Carol sighs, "You're right. You should probably get some rest. You've had a long day and its getting late."
"I think I will." I say, "You should too."
Herschel nods, "Oh, she is." He chuckles. I just stare awkwardly back.
"Cool..." I say, trailing off. "I'm gonna go now, so, uh, bye." Then I turn on my heel and leave the cramped prison cell. Time for bed.
I reach my shared cell without interruption. Elena is already in her bed, the covers pulled up. Her breathing is irregular, so I assume that she has been crying. Lacey always hid under the blankets and cried when she thought I was asleep. I decide that I will talk to her tomorrow, when she's ready to talk. With that final thought, I climb into my bed, hoping that my night will pass by without any nightmares.
A/N : Hey guys! I know, I know... my Merle wasn't very Merle-ish. I will work on it, I swear! Thanks for all of the reads and votes.
