"Now tell me the truth, girl." Says a man in jeans and a white shirt that's covered in blood. He's talking to a small girl, whose whole body is purple and bruised. She doesn't answer.

"Fine. Lacey will pay for your dishonesty." The man turns away from the girl, and I see his face. Martinez. I want to run forward and hit him as many times as he hit me, but I can't move. Can't speak. I'm left to watch. He calls in a man, the Governor. Phillip comes into the room, holding Lacey by her fragile wrist.

"You called me?" He sneers at me.

"Yes, sir." Martinez says, "The girl won't tell us about her group, so we need to have a little 'talk' with her sister."

The Governor smiles an evil smile. "Perfect. I'll leave you to it then." He begins to walk out of the room, but turns around when he reaches the door.

The Governor smiles that smile again, "You'll need this." Lacey's brave face disappears when she sees what the man is talking about. A knife.

"Right. Thank you." Martinez says, straight-faced. As soon as the Governor leaves, Martinez shoves Lacey against the wall, next to the girl with the bruised face.

"Alright," he snarls, "which one of you is going to tell me where your little group is? We all know that you weren't alone when we found you."

"N-no." Says Lacey, "we were alone, I swear it." Martinez smiles and steps forward, landing directly on Lacey's fingers.

"Oh really... do you swear on your life?" He asks. The bruised girl gasped, Lacey whimpered, and Martinez just laughed. Laughed at Lacey's pain. The girls exchanged broken glances, knowing that the wrong thing could end one of their lives.

Lacey takes a deep breath. "Yes. I swear on my life."

Martinez's face turns into an ugly, angered glare, "Liar."

His boot comes up, and down again in one swift motion. This time hitting Lacey hard across the face. Her screams echoed through the room. He removes his boot, and I see a red welt forming on her right cheek. The bruised girl grasps Lacey's hand.

"You gonna tell me the truth now?!" Martinez yells at them. The bruised one looks up at him, still holding Lacey's hand.

"The truth is," she says, "you know that we didn't have a group before you. You are just going to kill us for fun. You. Are. A. Sick. Person." Martinez narrows his eyes.

"Is that the game you want to play?" He asks. Both girls shrink away in fear. The bruised girl made a mistake. A deadly mistake.

"Thats what I thought." He turned away from the girls, smiling.

"You can think?" Lacey says. So foolish.

"Excuse me?!" He shouts. He brings knife up.

"Do you think that you can talk to me like that?" The knife goes down and hits Lacey spot on, in the chest. Both of the girls are screaming and crying.

"You killed her! You killed Lacey!" Cries the bruised one.

"She's not dead yet." Martinez smirks before walking out of the room, locking the door behind him.

Lacey's eyes are wide, her breathing shallow. The other girl pulls Lacey's head onto her lap.

"It's okay, Lacey. You're gonna be just fine." Her tears fall onto Lacey's face.

"I'm going to see Mom again." Lacey whispers. The bruised girl nods.

"Yeah, you will. Tell her I said hi, okay." Lacey nods.

"I bet she misses us... When you get out of here, find Allie and Aubrey for me. Tell them that I'm gone. My best friends deserve to know..."

"You'll make it out of this, right?" Asks the bruised girl. Lacey doesn't respond. The knife is still lodged in her chest. But I already know. She's gone. The bruised girl knows too.

"No. No, no, no! Lacey!" She sobs. "Come back!"

A creak of the metal door signals that Martinez is back. The bruised girl looks up, in horror. Its the first time I've seen her face.

Just then I realize, I'm the girl with the bruised face, and I'm going to die next.

A/N: So, if you didn't know, this is a dream going back to when Lacey (Delilahs sister) dies and how it happens. You might want to remember Audrey and Allie (hint, hint) and if that was confusing, they used to be Laceys best friends before the world went to hell. It's all supposed to be italicized, but I'm not sure that it will show up.  Anyway, thanks for all of the reads and votes!

Xoxo,

Rebecca
