Hello!
Where do I begin?
Firstly, I want to thank everyone that read and stuck through this. Chapter by chapter, I saw readers drop off. When I started writing this, I thought that this was going to be fun and easy-- no other Prince Harry fanfic writer had done it. (That's probably because they knew how much work it was going to be.) It was a lot of work, and it was hard. When it comes to writing normal Prince Harry fanfic, I can usually produce 1000 words and call it good for a week. This took a lot of research and time. I had to plan things out. It made me a better writer, but there were definitely bumps in the road. So thank you for everyone who read, commented and voted. You're the real MVPs.
Secondly, speaking of how long this took, the first chapter was published on on 5 November 2017. (2017!) This was way too long. There were so many times that I wanted to quit and move on. It definitely reflected in my work, so sorry-- but really, it was the readers that kept me coming back. It was the "Hey, I love your stories!" and "When are you going to update?" I tried to keep a schedule, and sometimes it worked (and sometimes it didn't).
Thirdly, speaking of not keeping up with the schedule, sorry that the last few just got all clumped together. I didn't update for, like, two or three weeks. For some authors, that is totally cool. I am a schedule-based person, so I really didn't like doing it. I knew that I needed to sit down and get it done, which I did. I also have the first few chapters of "Life in the Palace (Prince Harry #5)" done. (Name may change of the 5th book because I am not far enough in to know the full extent of what I am doing yet.)
I'm going to go back to starting this fanfiction in 2017 because that is insane to me. I cannot remember what I wrote in the beginning, so I may have the same sentences and jokes (because I think I'm funny). Since 2017, I have graduated from college, gotten a proper adult job (Human Resources), been in a wedding (not my own but it's a lot of work), gotten a car, published one of my fiction works on here ("Castle of Skulls") and read so many books. What have you done since 2017? (Probably a lot.)
I understand how hard it is to stay with a fanfiction for so long because there are so many. It is so easy to just not care anymore and move on, but you stuck it out. You chose to stay with me through the good, the bad and the ugly.
Speaking of which, the last few chapters, some of you loved it and some of you hated it. I had to be dramatic because I love doing it. I know some of you want fluff, but that's boring. I want Harry to be happy, but come on, if I am writing a life, then I want it to be interesting. (Plus, apologies to anyone in Quebec City and/or Canada that may be reading this. I didn't mean for that last bit to happen in Canada, but that was where they ended up and I had to fit something dramatic in there.)
Since 2017, Prince Harry has gotten engaged, married and had a kid. I am behind at his life. I first started giving hints of Meredith's pregnancy a week before the Duchess of Sussex announced her own. (Did you know that?) And her pregnancy was shorter than me writing this book. (Uffda!)
"Life at the Palace (Prince Harry #5)" has a few chapters published, so check it out! (Name may change, but you can find it on my profile page.)
Once again, to all my readers, you stuck with me. You are great! You are appreciated! I wouldn't be doing this without you! You make me a better writer every chapter, and let me know what you want me to do next.
Thank you,
S. Johnson
