Loving the Tutor

Chapter 1

I sat completely still and tried to ignore the giggling behind my back. The teacher continued to write on the board and I quickly copied it all down, having nothing to do but listen to them behind me. I gripped the side of my desk with my hands and tried to block out their voice but I could hear them so clearly.

"Oh my god, look at her. Who does she think she is, always so perfect" A hgih pitched vocie laughed and I recognised it as Georgia's. She ruled this class and even had the teacher pretty much wrapped around her finger. You did not want to go against her.

So I tried to ignore it but that's pretty much impossible when they're were talking so loudly. I was surprised the teacher hadn't noticed, but I realised he probably already had but couldn't be bothered to tell them to shutup for the tenth time. I continued to watch the Shakespeare play Mr Andrews wrote on the board and was starting to get back into working when I heard a voice again.

"Look at her watching the teacher like a dog. God, she must be in love with him" This time it was michelle. Georigia's little lap dog. She followed Giorgia around where ever she went and was happy to be second most popular since she got all of the guys who got rejected by georgia. Infact, Georgia pretty much rejects everyone except for her boyfriend Alec. The highschools famous quarter back.

I continued to listen to their annoying voices before finally turning around.

"Will you keep it down? Some of us are trying to listen!"

Georgia looked at me in digust, her green eyes narrowed. She pushed her long blonde hair behind her and took the piece of gum out of her mouth that she'd been chewing before.

"Whatcha gonna do about it?" SHe laughed and threw the gum in my hair. Michelle laughed along with her and Alec was smirking. I gave them all a look of hatred before turning back and trying to get rid of the gum.

I slowly got it out of my brown hair and looked at it with disgust.

"Miss Lilly, you know gum is not allowed during class" I looked up and saw the teacher looking at me with a raised eyebrow.

"But I...yes sir" I sighed and gritted my teeth as Georgia and Michelle sniggered.

I hid the gum in my hand under the desk and waited for the teacher to turn his back before turning around again.

"This is what I'm gonna do about it" I said, and with that I shoved the piece of gum into her face so it stuck on her forehead. Michelle choked out a short laugh before composing herself when she saw Georgia's glare. I could tell Georgia was about to do something bad when we heard a loud clearing of someones throat.

"Something you'd like to share with the class girls?" Mr Adams demanded.

"No sir" We all replied in perfect and probably never to be repeated again matrimony.

The rest of the lesson was silent and I was relieved. I didn't really watch the teacher, only the clock, cursing how slow it went. I knew it was probably just my imagination but it seemed that the more I looked at it, the slower it went.

I averted my eyes away from the clocker, because it was only making me depressed. I was half way through the day, only halfway more to go. I felt a slight tap on my shoulder, so light that I wondered if I'd imagined it, then another, this one more hard.

The teacher's head was down in his book and we were all meant to be filling out some worksheets but I couldn't help but turn around again.

Alec was looking away, out the window. He seemed quite absent-minded. But Michelle was lookign at me with her curly black hair and amber eyes. Georgia seemed distracted with the end of a pencil and suddenly understood why her and Alec went so well together.

"What?" I hissed, knowing this was not going to end well. Georgia looked at me with a fake look of confusion.

"What do you want?" SHe was a horrible actor and a horrible speller on that note. She spelt apple, apool, because she says it sounds like it has a pool on the end. That was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. I don't even know how she made it past kindergarton let alone year 10.

I turned back to the front and was tapped again. I ignored it again and was tapped numerous times after that. Why the hell were they so annoying?

Suddenly the loud shrill of the bell went off and I was relieved. I collected my books and quickly made my way to the door trying not to look back, when a hand grabbed my shoulder. I expected Georiga and shook it off, but I quickly realised it was Mr Adams.

I spun around and faced him. "Yes?"

His face looked quite serious and I suddenly grew nervous. "Jessica, I need to talk to you about-"

"It wasn't me with the gum! It was Geor-"

He cut off my outburst. "I know. That's not it. You see, you're one of our top students and we need you to tutor one of our, less talented students" That was him trying to be nice about saying dumb.

I instantly felt happy again. I loved tutoring people because it gave me extra points on my report and I loved helping people. I had a smile on my face again.

"Who is it?"

The teacher hesitated for a second, as if he was considering telling me and that kinda worried me. My smile shrunk a little.

"Well it's, um... Alec Farley" HE smiled sheepishly. Alec?! He was one of the worst students, aside from Michelle.

My smile was all gone now and my heart was beating rapidly. I couldn't tutor him! It was so wrong!

"I don't know Mr Adams, it's hard-"

"I knew you'd be up to it!" He grinned and headed for the door. I quickly followed him and tried to block him.

"Wait, I didn't say-"

"I talk to you about it tomorow, but you have to tell Alec. Sorry, I've got a meeting! Bye!"

He ran off and I stood frozen in the doorway. All the other kids headed out for lunch but I stood there the whole time trying to sort out the jumbled up thoughts in my head.

School just became that more interesting.
