RECAP: “Because I love you Jessica” …..

* * *

I stood frozen in shock and my heart began to race. He loved me? But he just bloody started hanging out with me a few days ago!

He waited for me to say something, I think he was hoping for something like, I love you too, but I couldn’t register the words. My palms got sweaty and I started looking around frantically.

Alec sighed, ran his hand through his hair and kept on walking.

“We better hurry before it gets too dark. You don’t want to be out on these streets alone” He said, already far ahead. I tried to catch up but it was useless. In the end he waited and I stood by his side.

“What do you mean?” I asked, still feeling shaken.

“Well, you know when you mentioned vampires earlier? They like to hang around. But there not like anything from books where they’re sweet and nice. They’re blood thirsty killers and I advise you to stay away from them”

Vampires existed? Wow. Didn’t see that one coming. Then again, I didn’t see Alec having super natural powers coming either.

“What about Werewolves?” I sounded curious, but really I was just trying to hide the panic in my voice.

“They exist. I had a run in with one of them, not fun. Let me just say, never call a Werewolf a stupid little puppy. Big Mistake. But they’re not local, they live in the woods. There’s other random magical creatures around too. Nearly every fictional character in books exists” He shrugged like this was no big deal.

“Even unicorns?” I asked excitedly.

He turned and raised his eyebrow at me. “Unicorns?”

I grinned. “Sure, it was like my childhood dream to meet a unicorn”

“Urrr….sorry Jess, but Unicorns do exist…..”I smiled happily. “In books only”

My face must have fallen because he laughed and it echoed throughout the lonely empty streets.

We kept walking, but I admit I was disappointed about the unicorn thing. I had my head down and almost walked into Alec when I realised he’d stopped.

“We’re here” He murmured quietly.

I followed him as he opened a large metal door to a huge warehouse and snuck inside. I tried to follow as quietly as possible but as soon as I entered, I realised it was pitch black.

I could barely walk across a flat surface normally, but now I couldn’t even see a centimetre in front of me.

My foot kicked something like a pot and it rattled noisily as it slid across the hard ground.

“Sorry!” I whimpered.

“SHSSH!” Was the reply I got, leaving me feeling very guilty.

I felt something cold brush against the back of my hand and I gasped in fear. I turned around, but as I mentioned, it was pitch black. A light hand brushed at the back of my neck making me jump.

Suddenly harsh rope was wrapped around my hands and wrenched tight. I yelped loudly and I heard someone gasp.

“Jessica!” I heard Alec yell, but he sounded far away.

“Alec! Al-“ Something was pressed to my mouth and nose and I instantly recognised it. Chloroform. I felt instantly dizzy and fell to the floor, hitting my head in the process. I heard someone laugh before I lost consciousness.
