A/N: I decided to change to location from the Las Vegas strip to the beach, because reasons.
***
Steve was late. Unusually late. Unapologetically late.
Tony glanced at his watch. He had been standing out on the beach for over an hour. Just sit already. A part of him pleaded, mainly the part that was connected with his legs. It'll ruin it. "It" being the plan he had. The plan of Steve walking up to him and seeing him in all his beach best glory. He was wearing a loose white button-down, rolled up at the sleeves, and a pair of fitted beige beach pants. Sitting will cause wrinkles and sand to go everywhere. No, that's not how he wanted Steve to see him. Not for their first date. First date. He hoped it was still happening.
Steve wasn't the type of guy to stand someone up. Tony knew that. So there had to be a reason for his lateness.
"Screw it. I'm just gonna call him." Tony finally shook his head, as he announced this to the world around him. He pulled up his hand, so his watch was once again across from his face. "Jarvis. Call him." He said, trying to keep his voice stoic. Jarvis complied right away and the Bluetooth in his ear started ringing.
It rang three times before Steve finally answered.
"Tony!" Steve answered frantically.
The panic in Steve's voice shamefully calmed Tony down.
"Hey Steve. Are we still on?" Tony tried to sound nonchalant. He wasn't sure if he managed it.
"We are!"
Tony could hear scrambling in the background.
"I was talking to a friend on the phone and I lost track of time."
"Oh." Tony didn't bother covering up the dejection in his voice.
"We were talking about you!" Steve added, not wanting to be misunderstood.
"Oh." Tony repeated. This time voice happy and intrigued.
"Yeah, they-- well, I'll tell you in person. I'm almost at the beach. Where are you?"
Tony started looking around. He spotted him. "I see you. To your left." He began waving at Steve
Steve turned, spotting Tony. He waved back as he hung up.
He looks like a Greek God. Steve gulped as he walked over to Tony. He looked down at his own outfit. Why would you wear a suite to a beach date?
"Wow, you look nice." Tony smiled at Steve.
"I-- you look--sorry I'm late."
"Oh, don't worry about it." Tony waved it off.
He nodded to the beach and the two began walking along the sand.
"I was on the phone with Nat and Simmons."
"How's their party?"
"Good. We actually got on the topic of you."
"Me?" Tony looked at Steve. "Good things I hope."
"Yeah. Well. We didn't really talk about you."
"I'm confused."
"Do you know what demisexual means?"
"Yeah. I do actually. Why? Are you--"
"I'm not really sure what I am. We talked a lot about different sexualities that I didn't know existed. And I mean, a lot. All I know is that... I like you."
Tony stopped walking. A smile on his face. "I like you too, Steve." He smirked, My Patrick."
Steve grimaced, "I can't believe Bucky said that."
"I'm glad he did." Tony smiled as they resumed their walk. "Does he know you're here, by the way?"
Steve purses his lips, before nodding no. "I was going to tell him though. But then, time got away from me."
"Right."
"Bruce and Rhodey?"
"Yeah, they know."
Steve nodded, feeling awkward for seeming to have kept this a secret. Before he could say something else though, Tony spoke up.
"There's a fair ten minutes up. Was wondering if you wanted to go there? Have a proper teen date. Well, one we actually call a date. The zoo and movies. Those were kind of like dates.
Steve grinned. "That sounds fun."
