"Mo Guan Shan you tell me what is going on right now! I mean it, no more secrets I want to know everything okay!" Mrs Mo had obviously had enough drama from her son for one day.
Mo Guan Shan squeezed his hands into fists on their kitchen table and tried to get his shit together. Sometimes having a parent to run to, to rely on, to gain support from was a thing of beauty and he needed to start sharing the tough shit in his life with his mom. Maybe, just maybe she could help. His mom was the one person who he could trust 100%.
"Mom, He Tian...he's in hospital, it's bad." Momo's voice trembled and he blinked away the tears which threatened to fall.
"What!?" She sat down in one of the kitchen chairs with a thump. Her hand immediately reached for her sons and clasped it tightly. "Momo, what happened to him, why is he.....we need to go to him!" Before Shan could speak, she was up on her feet and heading towards the door, grabbing her handbag on the way.
"Mom wait! That man that was just in our house...he nearly killed He Tian, my Tian was dead....the paramedics had to save him, they had to get his heart beating again. That evil shit oh god, he is the one who has been hurting He Tian all along. Tian he told me, but it was too late and that gangster.......he just sat here and drank fucking tea like nothing had happened!" Mo Guan Shan was inconsolable. Tears dripped down his cheeks as he sobbed his heart out.
Mrs Mo ran towards her son and just took him in her arms, her palms stroked soothingly up and down his strong back. Shan never let her hold him, even when Momo's father left for prison her little boy stood strong and brave. Just like his daddy wanted. 'Be brave son, take care of your mother and keep her safe.' She remembered the words so clearly.
"Momo, its okay He Tian he's a strong boy, he will get through this. We just need be there for him okay?" She could feel his tears soaking the shoulder of her dress.
Momo nodded against her shoulder.
Mrs Mo pushed her son slightly away and cupped his wet, reddened cheeks.
"Okay, first we go and see He Tian, secondly I am going to the police. I will not stand for this any more. Gangsters, triads, I don't care Momo. This stops now." Mrs Mo tugged her son towards their coats and bags. For once they were in perfect agreement. The Mo family put their shoes on and stood together as a united front.
"Wait mom, He Tian's dad might be at the hospital, he's a complete ass hat!"
"Momo!" His mom smacked him on top of his head "I know you're upset but no more swearing in this house! His father? Is he involved with the triads too?" They both walked out of their modest little apartment and made their way out into the cold evening.
"I think so, he's trying to have Tian moved to some fancy Hong Kong hospital, He Cheng isn't very happy about it." Mo tugged his coat around him and shuddered a little, would he ever feel warm again? He Tian was always hanging off him, hugging him, sticking like glue to his body so he never really felt cold when they walked out together.
'He Cheng? Is that a family member?" His mom was already waving a cab down.
"Yeah, his older brother. I need to contact him to see if it's okay for us to come, if Tian's dad is there we wont be able to go in. He Cheng wants me to stay away from him." Momo took his phone out and started hunting for He Cheng's number.
"He sounds like a piece of work, if avoiding him is the best way we can get in to see Tian, then call this older brother Shan. Which hospital is he at?"
Momo passed on the address of the XX hospital to her as they got into the rear of the taxi. The phone's speaker sounded loud in the confines of the car.
