"Hey your up." I wake up and see Brooke above me. Confusion floods me. I can't remember anything, we were packing and then Brooke-.

"Oh god Brooke I'm so sorry I didn't tell you! Your my best friend I should've told you!" She comes over to me and gives me a hug. My arms automatically wrap around her. "It's okay Avery. It's okay...Teagan told me everything." I look around for her but I didn't see her.

"Where is she?" I ask sitting up. "We finished packing, and getting everything together. She took everything in your truck so you didn't have to worry about it." The house looked so empty. The pictures on the wall no longer hung straight and the house felt like a cold empty shell.

"So who was that guy and please dont pass out again." I laugh and rub my hand over my face. I knew he was from New York but I didn't know who he was. "I don't know." I stand up and look around for the brown envelope and spot it on the kitchen island. I feel Brooke following behind me and I don't hesitate to open it.

My eyebrows furrow. "Well what are they?" She asks trying to look over my shoulder. "Divorce papers." I whisper and I didn't know how to feel. Was this some kind of sick joke or is this actually real. "That's a good thing right?" I sigh and put them back into the envelope.

"Yeah well we'll see." I say and take one more look around the house. I was letting it go and I was okay with that. Even if my mom and dad were still here, I wouldn't be living here anyways, I was planning on moving on my own, well for me and Everest.

I had already got in contact with a realtor who stated 'I've been waiting to get this house on the market for a long time'. I practically just said 'you're welcome'.

"Well I'm gonna head out. We have recruitment coming up so I gotta start preparing for that on top of studying." Brooke says and picks up a box from the floor. I give her a hug at the front door and watch her walk to her car that's also packed with garage bags of clothes and boxes of things we're donating. Her sorority is big with donating to those in need so it didn't matter.

For the rest of the night I just sat on the couch and watch tv till sleep consumed me.

A week gonna by and I actually went for an interview at the hospital for the ER nurse position. I think it went very well and Bonnie told me that they have no choice but to hire me because they're all scared of her.

It was already Saturday, almost 9pm. I've been looking at a few apartments but with the all the college kids, everything's considered off campus housing and charging ridiculous prices for apartments. I visited my grandparents at least once everyday this week and even went over to Everests grandparents to take Selena for a ride.

Mrs. Johnson is really not doing well again and I'm fearfully she might be going soon. Mr, Johnson said the Dr. gave her a year but after seeing her lie in bed and all the medications they have her on you mine as well say she's in hospice. I'm also fearful for Mr. Johnson because he's older than her and the term 'died from a broken heart' in medical terms.

Then there is Everest and Austin . This is the literally the only family they have left besides the Sons. I already asked Mr. Johnson what's gonna happen to the farm and all the horses if anything happens and he said the horses are already set up with potential owners and everything else is left to both the boys.

I haven't heard from Everest since the last time he was here which I'm kinda grateful for. No worrying or stress. Just relaxing and getting on with my life besides the brown folder that's been sitting on the counter in the same spot. That is something that haunts me.
