Chapter Thirty Six

Maryam's POV

"Hi Kareem " I said with a huge smile as soon as I walked into his office and met him sitting at his seat with some papers in his hands. He stared at me

"I'm sorry sir...I tried to stop her but-"

"It's OK Hafsa you can go" he told her before she took a look at me. What? Even I don't like you too

She left the office and shut the door

"What are you doing here? "

I start walking around taking a look at everything in  his office

"Your Dad...you two resemble except that he was much nicer than you....anyway" I said as I turn to him. He just glare at me without saying anything

"I'm bored. You send Nanny away using the excuse 'i want you to rest and take good proper of your self,it been long you've been doing this work'. I know you want to make my life a living hell.... and you really can't expect me to stay at that your boring mansion and stay all alone....if I keep staying there alone, some day I might begin to here voices"

"What do you want Maryam? "

"Now you're talking" I told him happily before I walk up to him

"Nothing much just....you know, the usual...My school "

"NO" he said sternly

"Come on! Kareem I won't be here if I have something to keep me busy....." I told him

He leaned a little bit closer towards me to my liking. I wish right now I could just grab his cloth and kissed him so much

"Maryam...I say NO" he said

Subhanallah! Why is this man so adamant? Fine I still have plan B

"Fine...OK you've made your choice. You choose the hard way...don't blame me later on...fine " I told him. I walk up to the sofa in his office and took my seat

Kareem's POV

I stared at the screen of my laptop as I worked on it. I wanted to understand something on the papers so I took a closer look then try to calculate something in my head but....the stupid sound Maryam was making by chewing those chips were really frustrating

I ignored her and she walked out

Thank God!" I muttered as I breathed in but later come with a new set of plantain chips. She isn't even considerate that I'm working

I raise up my eyes to her way. I glared at her angrily but she was into the chips in her hands that she didn't even see me and when she finally turned to me....I expect my glare alone to warn her but instead,she smiled and stretch out the bag of plantain chips towards me

"You want some?" She asked. I glared at her hard

"Keep...that...thing away" I said through gritted teeth instead She shrug her shoulder

"OK if you do not want...but it really taste good. You should try it some day" she said with a smile. I look away from her then back to my work

"What is the meaning of this?" I immediately turned my head to right to find her staring at the screen of my laptop. When did she get here? And how come I didn't hear her footstep

I immediately shut the laptop

"Maryam,what do you want?" I asked her in a calmer tone. I know that she was just doing all this to frustrate me into letting her school but clearly she doesn't know the real Kareem...I don't give in so easily...ever

"Simple....just allow me to continue my education " she said as she finally stood up

"Never" I told her as I got up walked past her

"Ok Kareem...you should be prepared to start seeing my face everyday from now on,I'll be your new partner in this office...your mansion is too boring so from now on...I'll hang out here" she said as she followed me behind. I stopped and turned to her

"I know what you're trying to do Maryam" I told her as I took steps closer to her

"You...you do?" She asked with wide eyes as she began to take slow steps backwards

"Yes.....you're trying to hang around me...you're trying to prove to me that you're tough... You're trying to frustrate me...you're trying to prove that you're right....you're trying to make me give in" I told her as I took a steps closer to her and she took steps backwards with widened eyes and her back kissed the wall. I placed both of my hands on the wall

"Am I not right?" I asked her but She looked surprise and was speechless coz she only stared at me with wide eyes. She looked stunned. I don't think she was surprise at the fact that I found out about her plan...I think she was stunned by something else. Suddenly I noticed something on her face. I furrowed my eyebrows and slowly realisation hit me

"Are you... Are you blushing right now?" I asked her. That was definitely not what I had expected from her. With her eyes still widened she turned her eye ball left and right

"No?" Her answer sounded like a question to her self. She was shaking,she immediately turned,bent her head and passed under my arm. I watch her as she slowly then quickly walk away out of the office

A slow smile crept on my lip as I remembered her face earlier. Here I was talking about something serious and she was here thinking about something else.
