So this is what it felt like for one of the most important choices of your life to be taken away from you. Spoiler alert: It hecking sucks. I was being forced to marry someone who I had never met tomorrow morning. From what I've heard, she has a lovely personality and is quite beautiful. I just want to meet her before marrying her. I actually really wanted to get to know her. Too late now, I guess.
I softly walked to the cabinet on the opposite side of my room where all the spare pillows, sheets, and blankets were kept. As efficiently as I could without waking anyone else up since the time was eleven-thirty at night, I removed all the sheets from their shelf then began tying them together in order to do the classic castle getaway. Climb out the window using a rope of sheets.
In all seriousness, why did they keep so many sheets and blankets in a locked, castle bedroom if that was the stereotypical escape plan? Who was even going to use all those sheets for purposes other than retreat? No one.
Anyways, after another thirty minutes, I had completed the chain of cloth. I began mentally and physically preparing myself before getting the feeling I should start getting the heck out of here. It was the type of sensation you get where your pulse randomly starts shooting through the roof and your entire body is suddenly filled to the brim with a rush of adrenaline and dread. I hesitated a moment to get my bag of rations before leaping out the window, makeshift rope in hand.
The whole 'getaway' thing proved much harder than expected. Especially for someone like me who is short and has small, noodle arms. I almost immediately fell down the rest of the way. Not one if my proudest moments if I do say so myself. I started slowly and carefully climbing my way down the fleece rope before getting the impression I was being watched. Of course that could've just been paranoia but when you're trying to execute a decent escape, you don't want to take any chances.
I turn just in time to see this amazingly beautiful young woman about my age staring at me like a deer in the headlights. Livid dark chocolate hair cascaded down her shoulders while warm brown eyes anxiously looked me over. She had a sun tanned complexion that suited her quite well. A gorgeous blackish purple calf-length dress hugged her slim frame, but not suffocatingly so.
Something then clicked in my mind. That's the girl I was supposed to marry tomorrow morning. And she's trying to escape this...situation just like me.
"Hello there, I guess." I whisper yell over to her.
She looks at me as if I was taking crazy pills. "Hello. Who might you be?"
"My name is Michael Vey and I'm trying to get out of here." I glanced over my shoulder. "Never particularly liked anything here anyways. Now, who are you?"
"Taylor. Taylor Ridley. Since it seems we're doing the same thing, wanna race to the bottom then go together? We'd most likely have a higher chance of surviving if we go together."
"Sounds like a plan."
We then both slid down our ropes as fast as we could. We ended up tying.
"Welp. What are we waiting for?" I asked.
She grinned at me. "Let's go!"
We then raced off into the unknown, running headfirst to our first but certainly not last adventure.

Here it is! Sorry it took so long! Also, apologies if it's by far not the best thing you've read, I lost most of the motivation for it mid-way through. I don't really have any more to say here so have a wonderful morning/day/evening!~Bea🦡
