It's been a week since that date with Noah. I've been packed down with studying so we've mainly just been talking over phone and text or whenever he can come over to the house. I hate to admit it to myself, but I'm really falling too far too fast.
"So who is he?" I almost choke as Will asks the question, taking a sip of my coffee and raising an eyebrow. "The guy you keep texting."
"No one." He looks at me with disbelief. "A guy I met in Criminal Law, we got assigned to a case with each other, that's it."
"Oof, look at me hoping my little sister was finally getting a boyfriend." I throw a piece of bread in his direction and he catches it in his mouth. Showoff. "Honestly, I thought you and Noah were gonna start hooking up."
"What? Why?" Oh hey, the warning sirens are back, but Will just shrugs, chewing the bread and taking a sip of his coffee.
"I don't know, you guys seemed a bit flirty last week."
"You know Noah, he flirts with anything that breathes."
"Oh do I?" Of course, this is my luck. I turn around and Noah's shutting the doo rbehind himself, kicking off his shoes. His face reads amusement, but I can tell he's holding himself back since Will's here. "Good to know you hold such a high opinion of me, V."
"Raise your standards and I'll raise my opinion."
Will laughs and rolls his eyes, flicking us both on the foreheads as he grabs his work bag. "Play nice, both of you. I'll be back in a couple hours, my boss is letting us out early today."
When the garage door closes behind him, Noah wraps his arms around my waist, making me squeal as he picks me up. "I flirt with anything that breathes, huh?"
"Shut up, it was just cuz Will was there." He laughs breathily and presses his lips to mine.
"So a few hours, huh?"

Noah's lips silence my moan as his hands tug gently on my hair. We're making out in my room, with me on his lap and him sitting against my headboard. The feeling of him takes my breath away, and I ground myself by planting my hands on his shoulders. I tug on his bottom lip and he groans and pulls back to start kissing up and down my neck, stopping at the base of my neck when he feels my fingers dig into his shoulders. He focuses his efforts in that spot. "N-Noah," my voice barely comes out in a whisper.
"Yes?" Noah asks in a shit eating grin. I tug at the hem of his shirt and he breaks the kiss for a moment to pull it off, throwing it across the room and reconnecting our lips, rolling over so I'm on my back with him on top of me. One of my hands rests on his chest as the other wraps around his neck. When I tug on his hair, he groans, kissing me harder. I arch my back and he slips my shirt over my head, leaving me in my white lace bra. The necklace he got me hangs just above the valley of my breasts. "Woah, since when have you had this?"
He pulls back, hands splayed out on my hips as his thumb brushes over the tattoo running from my side to the bottom of my ribcage. It's a small slender hand holding sprigs of flowers, babies breath and lavender and wildflowers. "You're full of surprises, aren't you, Ryder?"
Rolling my eyes, I pull him back down to kiss me, tongue swiping over his bottom lip. "Got them matching with Max for his birthday, is it that important?"
"So when do I get to match tattoos with you?"
"The quicker you shut up and kiss me, the faster-"
"Ronnie? Noah?"
Our eyes widen and Noah jumps off the bed, muttering "shit" under his breath as he makes sure the door is closed. "Why's he back so soon?" He whisper shouts, passing me my shirt.
I shrug, panic subsiding as we get dressed and I quickly neaten out my bed. "Up here, Will!" I yell. Noah's fixing his hair in the mirror and I check quickly to make sure that he didn't leave marks before Will walks in.
"What are you guys up to?"
"Rockstar here wants to take a girl out to the drive through, so he was asking me for movie recommendations."
"little did i know none of them would be movies from the past ten years," Noah snides, catching on and I roll my eyes.
"Well good luck for that. i left my office keys here, have you seen them anywhere, Ronnie?"
"Yeah, they're downstairs, kitchen counter." He nods and disappears. Noah climbs back on the bed and laces his fingers through mine, but doesn't even exhale until the front door shuts.
"Jesus Christ," he groans, head falling into my lap. "I think I was on the verge of a heart attack there."
Laughing as he pulls me back onto his lap, I try to hide any signs that my mind is any place else than hers and now.
but it is. i love my brother, and I hate lying to him, especially when it comes to the one other person he cares for more than anything. And I know that even if Noah and I became anything more serious, there would be no way for that to happen if Will- if Will didn't approve of it.
Keep track of what's going on now, I think as Noah dips his head into the crook of my neck. One thing at a time. There's no point telling Will if this doesn't work out, so just wait.
wait.
