It was that time of the year when teachers wanted to meet the parents of their students. When children start behaving in the hope of getting a good report. While most children preferred one parent coming then others, others wanted their siblings to go.
When Taeyun found out about parents evening, her heart sung slightly. She knew straight away that her adopted parents wouldn't be able to travel from Daegu all the way to Seoul, just for a few hours. The sibling that would uselessly fill in for these sort of things, was out on a business trip in the States and wouldn't be back in time.
With the knowledge of her past school looming at the back of her head, Taeyun didn't want to be the odd one out. When the letter came out Taeyun stuffed it at the bottom of her bag in the hope that she would forget and when did later find it, it would be too late.
Taeyun felt like she dealt with the problem and was sure that nothing would foil her plan.
She was able to avoid suspicious from her teacher, who gave her leniency because her teacher knew of Taeyun's tight schedule. Even though the teacher went easy on Taeyun, her teacher did make it clear that she did want to speak to someone about Taeyun's work. This made the poor idol even more desperate to keep her parents evening a secret.
However, Taeyun forgot one thing. A very important thing. Jeon Jungkook went to the same school as her. Taeyun remembered this when the group was sitting down for dinner a rare thing as they were preparing for their comeback. While they sat, they spoke about what would be happening in the up coming days whether in the world of education or their comeback.
It was there that Jungkook made a mention of his parents evening coming up. He explained that his brother was going to come seeing he would be in town. Taeyun kept her down, hoping that no one would ask her about her parents evening. Jungkook of course spoiled that too.
"Hey Yunnie, when is your class having their parents evening?"
Taeyun gluped and said a secret prayer as she slowly swallowed to think of a lie.
"Um... We actually haven't been told when ours'are. I'm sure we will find out soon though." She said while accidentally making eye contact with Jin. For some reason that eye contact lasted for a number of seconds before Jin raised an eyebrow and broke the contact.
Jungkook was satisfied with that answer and Hoseok began talking about how he didn't like one of his teachers.
When dinner was finished, Taeyun excused herself saying she had homework and went to her room. Once she made sure that the door was fully closed, she rummaged through her backpack, trying to find that letter that she hid at the bottom.
Taeyun sighed. She looked at the letter, seeing it clearly stated "Dear Parent/Carer."
Laying on her back, Taeyun began to think. Despite not having her parents her with her, she was still being raised by someone, that someone was Jin.
He made sure she was: feed, clean, had enough money for school lunch if she wasn't have packed lunch. Jin was the person she screamed for when she started her period. He was also the person who comforted her when she had her nightmares.
Without a second thought, with the letter in hand, Taeyun got up and went back to the kitchen knowing Jin would be there, hopefully by himself. When she reached the kitchen Taeyun saw Jin washing the dishes while humming a song. As she approached him, he notice her and began to dry his hands. It was as if he already knew that she wanted to talk to him.
"Oppa, can I talk to you please?" Taeyun said timidly.
"Sure princess. Let's sit down at the table. Do you want a drink?" In which he received a nod.
When Jin was finally seated, Taeyun started to talk.
"Oppa, there something I want to tell.and ask you. Jungkook was right, I too have a parent's evening coming up. I spoke to my parents in Daegu and they can't make and my brother isn't able to come. When I was upstairs, I came to the realization that you are basically my parent per say. You're raising myself and Jungkook. What I'm trying to say, is that as you look after me as if I was your little sister, to me, that qualifies you to be my sibling. To finish my mini rant, what I wanted to ask you is if you would come to my parents evening." Taeyun asked with red cheeks.
Jin looked at his dongsaeng and a motherly smile formed on his face. "Of course I'll come Luna. I'm honored that you count me as one of you sibling."
Taeyun quickly got up and wrapped her arms around Jin, who hugged her back. They stayed like that until someone came into the room.
"That's not fair! I want a hug from TaeTae now!" Screamed Taehyung.
Taeyun gave a quite sigh and hugged Taehyung.
"Hey Jimin, Jungkook! Guess who just got a hug from MY maknae?!"
The next thing you heard was a loud thud making you and Jin start laughing.
Jin shook his head in amazement.
"They're such dorks."
A/N: I'm not sure if parents evening happens in most countries, but in the UK we have yearly. If your country doesn't have it it's basically a time where your teacher meet your parents or guardian to discussed how you behave and your work, everyone has to go even if you are well behaved.
Anyways... Peace out!!!
