Prince Aide had been awake all night, mulling through the fact that he would soon be king and had to pick a bride. He looked through his bedroom window from the third floor of the castle, day was breaking and he still hadn't found a single solution to any of his problems.

With a weary sigh he ran a hand through his thick black hair. Picking a bride was hard, he had searched throughout every city and town and he still hadn't found someone who he thought was suitable. Everyone just wanted the title of Queen or wanted to marry him because of his riches and good looks.

It was well known throughout the land that he was the most eligible bachelor. Everywhere he went people would flock to see the handsome ocean blue eyed prince. When he was younger he loved the title and the attention but now it was downright annoying. He avoided leaving the castle as much as he could which was not very often.

His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a knock on his room door.

"Enter."

"Your Highness." It was one of the guards.

"What is it?" He gave the guard a bored look, he was slightly annoyed for being interrupted.

"The king requests your presence my liege."

What could his father want now?

"Tell him I'll be there soon, I need to get dressed.

"Yes, Your Highness." With that he closed the door and left.

Aide slipped out of his bed clothes and dragged on a pair of black pants, his cobalt blue tapestry Hellraiser coat and black knee length boots along with his ringed arm straps.

He made his way to the king's throne where he knew his father soul be waiting for him.

Upon reaching the throne room doors two guards opened them for him while bowing their heads in respect. He stepped through the doors with his head held high, back straight walking with confident strides, just like the way a prince should.

"Hello, father." Said Aide tightly.

"Aide, my son." He was smiling, this was not a good sign. Ever since the death of his mother when he was fifteen his father, King Fredron, had become cold and callous.

"It's good to see you Aide, it has been a long time. Come closer, let me take a look at you." Aide took two steps towards his father but didn't go any closer, leaving a few spaces between them.

"Ah, you've grown into a fine young man. Kind of remind me of myself when I was your age."

Aide scoffed lowly under his breath.

"Stop dilly dallying and cut to the chase father, I have better things to do." He gave his father a hard glare.

King Fredron didn't know what had happened to his eldest son. But his son's dislike for him was understandable, he was at least trying to make it better, picking up after all those years he left off of his son's life. Realising that Aide was totally serious, he stopped smiling and put on a serious face.

"I have a proposition for you, it benefits both you and the kingdom and if I say so myself it benefits me as well."

Aide didn't like where this was going but he would play along for arguments sake.

"What kind of proposition?"

"Oh, nothing too serious, it entails a little travelling if you choose or a quick marriage."

He already knew that whatever his father planned had to with some form of him being wedded off. He was smiling too.

"Who did you pick this time?"

"Ooh, well that's the best part, I didn't pick her, she requested your hand in marriage." His father walked down the steps from his throne to stand in front of him.

"Do I know this person?"

"Maybe, maybe not."

"Just spit it out already."

The king laughed at his sons annoyance. Aide had a very bad temper, contrary to him being a vaser, a controller of all things fluid. Only a few were blessed with such powers, unfortunately the King wasn't one of them. Vasers tend to normally have a calm demeanor and great self control but his son lacked greatly in the former department.

"She is one of the last royals, her name is Valencia Bordeaux, the most beautiful maiden from where she's from. She is two years younger than you and has been begging to meet you. She's also a princess of the seventh kingdom, the land of Taurdon."

"And what if I refuse her?" This made the king furrow his brows in anger, didn't this boy realise that if he doesn't marry her he will not become king. Trying to keep a calm face he said,

"If you refuse her you will have to travel to the mountains of Pétra to search for a girl by the name of Abidah. She has committed a very heinous crime."

"What could she have done so wicked that I have to find her." This was really stupid though Prince Aide, why not send a group of knights.

"She killed her own mother and father then kidnapped her sister, but not before setting their house afire."

This statement had Aide's eyes widening in shock.

"Now do you see why you should go. It is also rumored that she is a fayer."

"But that's impossible, fire controllers are extinct."

"Or so we thought. You leave at daybreak tomorrow."

Aide didn't know what to do. Should he stay and meet the lady that has asked for his hand in marriage or should he go on this quest for justice. His brows knit together in thought. His father watched him closely.

Finally coming up with a decision he lifted his head and stared in his father's eyes.

"I choose to find the girl."

The king was going to try and reason with his son but he knew him, he was as stubborn as as mule and whatever he set his mind to that's what he would do. He shared the same traits as his mother. His throat began to clog up at the thought of his late wife.

The king nodded his head and without another word Aide walked out of the throne room.
