Chapter fifteen –I truly did believe him

We hit the mountains immediately and I watched as the last of the kids disappeared in a race down the mountain. I gulped noticing Jason was watching me with narrowed eyes.

'so Cory, tell me about yourself' he asked slowly skiing over, almost looking scary enough to scare me.

'um...I go to the same school as Missy?' I offered and he hinted at a smile but it quickly vanished.

'yes, my sister...'

'yes...'

'nothing? You aren't going to have the decency to tell me...you think I'm stupid'

'huh? Wait...huh...what are you...oh' I stumbled over my words gulping as I realise he already knew. I don't know how but he knew.

'I'm not stupid, Missy's...different when she's with you'

'different?'

'good different. But do tell me this you wouldn't be the Cory now would you?'

'the Cory?'

'the one who sleeps around, destroys innocent girl and is on a mission to bed every woman?'

'um...no?' I questioned and he smirked.

'joking but she has said that. Look I get it; Missy is just one of those girls. Maggie is almost exactly like her. Missy can be stubborn and naïve but she is one of the most dedicated people I know'

'I know'

'you are going to take care of her?' he asked and I gulped as the reality dawned on me.

'I...'

'you what? Don't get into anything if you don't want it'

'I actually really kind of like her' I told him looking behind his shoulder. He raised a brow and smirked a little.

'I know...'

'how?'

'I'm a guy, Cory. I am not completely stupid'

'I know...you told me'

'right...so are you going to do anything about this? What happens when the holidays are over?'

'I don't know...honestly I hadn't even thought about it really. I mean what is she going to want'

'well I thought it was quiet obvious'

'obvious? What is?' I asked and he laughed slowly moving down the hill.

'you'll find out soon' he told me before taking off. I stood there for a second before moving my board. I took off coming down the hill behind Jason.

He wasn't the kind of brother you expected. I kind of expected someone who would give me the big lecture but in fact he seemed to be kind of encouraging. I smirked as I snowboarded down the hill behind him.

He wasn't too bad at skiing and I happened to overtake him at one point but he quickly caught up. No words were spoken as we got back on the lift and went back to the top. We moved silently and raced down the hill again.

I was having a lot of fun and was quite surprised when time passed by pretty quickly. In no time we were back in the cars driving back to the house. Jason offered to take me to the afternoon tea party. The kids took off inside and Jason explained someone else was taking care of them now.

'so ah this tea party...' I spoke and Jason sighed.

'sounds boring right?'

'kind of...sorry'
